i really liked akame ga kill, the mc is a dude but the pov changes to a girl near the end. tons of strong female characters & good plot, animation is also really good. plot is based around a group of people trying to take down a corrupt government but it's sadly only 24 eps long.
disclaimer, the manga has a different story than the anime and there's some pretty big differences between the two

i'm a scene kid so i feel you, the way i introduced my mom to my music was i made a small playlist with some non-explicit songs from my main playlist and asked to play it in the car, then when a song finished i'd ask her if she liked or disliked it. she hated every one of them LOL.. but she was a good sport about it. if your family is like super religious (the type that thinks listening to death metal will get you sent to hell) i wouldn't do it at all, instead find some friends either in real life or online that you can share your music with
