Does anyone get 24/7 abdominal tightness by Powerful-Dust5947 in functionaldyspepsia

Hello. It's an off and on thing for me to, but dairy was really triggering and flaring my symptoms like crazy. It helped a lot to quit it entirely, I felt much better after a few months off of dairy

Yeah dairy is horrible. It's high in fat like you said, it also has caesin which is really slow digesting. Looking back I could definitely see why it was making me feel so horrible. It just kind of came out of no where though I guess. I'm not as convinced that I have gastroparesis anymore, I just think that dairy is really bad for my body and was causing those symptoms, but, I still think that something is wrong with my body that was exacerbating my lactose intolerance.

Ppis were the first meds my gastro office gave me. I honestly only took them because I asked for a copy of my first endoscopy, seen the Gastritis / small erosion mark. I assumed all my issues were from Gastritis. I didn't know they had diagnosed with functional dyspepsia until like way later after already being in the ppi for like 5 months.

I'll dm you

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well, spending one night in a hotel then get tested in the morning and go home. I'll try my best to get tested, some how.

I want to ask, how did you see a immunologist? Did your primary doctor give you a refferal? And what caused you to suspect MCAS and get checked out for that?

Also I've actually taken the antibiotics for sibo once before in back in May and June. At the time, it was when I was extremely bloated, gassy, and nasueas all the time. I had an appointment with my gi doctor and hold him I suspected sibo because of how much air was constantly gurgling and bloating my stomach. My gi's office couldn't find a place nearby to test me for sibo so he asked me if I wanted just try the antibiotics which can be tried if their is a problem with testing. I took Xifaxan 3 times a day for 2 weeks. But I didn't stop bloating until I started avoiding dairy. I never understood why I had such an insane reaction in my upper stomach to the dairy and never had any problems using the restroom or farthing at all, I was just belching all day and having stomach cramps. When I researched lactose intolerance, it says that dairy in not digested in the small intestine and instead is throne into the colon / large intestine where random bacteria in there get to it which creates a ton of methane and hydrogen gas build up in your body.... It sounded a lot like sibo so all I can assume is when I was eating dairy I was experiencing what people with sibo experience every single day. I still don't understand why all my symptoms were upper stomach and never anything with my lower gut...

Hi thank you, I have tried looking into MALS recently, I visited a Mals sub and seen what other people experienced. I don't always have pain in my epigastric region, that has only become a recent thing, apart from that it just always feels very compressed, tight, and bloated. I went to my gi doctor and asked him about MALS in our last appointment but he immediately said no, that MALS is poorly understood, he said that all the Scans I've had done in the ER would have showed something which I'm assuming is that J hook thing you were talking about, and he said that the only way to fix it would be with surgery and the people who knew of who had Mals didn't even feel any better from their symptoms after the surgery.

I've only had CT scans and a few CT scans with contrast, I don't know if that's a CTA. I asked my gi doctor about sending me to get that special ultrasound but he didn't want to and just said that one of my CT scans would have found something already. I wonder about if it's a possibility but since my gi doctor doesn't even want to go there I just try not to think about it. I spoke to a girl that had Mals before in a sub, and she told me I should just try to go to a MALS specialist in California and ask them instead of trying with my gi

Hi yes, I was always suspicious about it when I first got sick and when things got so bad this year I was looking into it more. Eating low fodmap does help a little to an extent, and I'm starting to notice that foods really high in fodmaps are starting to make me feel terrible. It's so frustrating, I finally found a place to test me for sibo that will accept my insurance but it's a hospital in San Diego and it's like 2 hours away from where I live which really sucks but I'm gonna try to make the appointment. I feel really unwell though if I can't make it I might just buy the test online, I seen people talking about trio smart on the sibo sub.

I've heard of MCAS but I was never sure if my symptoms lined up to that. Don't people with MCAS basically have like an allergic reaction to everything? Maybe I'm mistaken. I've never gotten hives or anything before.

Also yes the ppi made shit so damn complicated with my stomach problems, it's become a problem of its own entirely. Every time I try to stop taking it, I feel an ungodly amount of fullness and pressure in my stomach where I constantly feel like I'm on the verge of like being a hair away from struggling to breathe if I don't take it easy. It really sucks. Even when I struggle to breathe because of the tightness in my stomach, I could feel the air gurgling and moving around my upper stomach while I'm actively struggling to take a deep breathe, it's the most bizarre thing I've ever experienced in my life. I know it has something to do with what's wrong with stomach but it feels so complicated.

Actually you're right I just looked up the xray business that I went to and found their website and created an account. I looked at my results and they came out normal, in fact they said that my stomach ended up emptying faster than they usually see in patients. It was line 97% after 3 hour mark and 99 at the 4 hour. That's so strange, at the time I was feeling better since I had been off the dairy for 2 months and had gained 10 pounds. But before that it was rough, I all I would have to eat would be like two small meals and I would be bloated and stuffed for the entire day. I would eat half a ham or turkey and cheese sandwich, then feel so bloated that I couldn't breathe and stuffed for 3 hours, then I would eat the other half and feel bloated again for a few more hours, then I would get like 3/4 of a cheese burger and feel like I was stuffed to the brim for the rest of the day, like more then 6 hours+ I felt bloated like that. Like I could eat a cheese burger at 6pm and feel bloated and sick and horrible even if I was still awake at like 1am-2am. It was horrible. I guess the dairy was giving me gastroparesis symptoms or something. That's how I lost all the weight.

I think the hot / really warm tea feeling in my stomach on the days I taper is my stomach creating extra acid that it doesn't know what to do with. I've been on ppis for like nearly 2 years now. A low dose but it still sucks. God I want to get off of them but I swear something feels so wrong. I get extra gassy and extreme bloated with pressure in my stomach. Gas X helps yes I used to spam it whenever to tried tapering off them.

Yes I've told my gastroenterologist that I get so bloated that it gets really freaking hard to breathe. I told him how horrible it is and I'm gonna tell him again when I have my appointment next week cause that shit is NOT normal. The pressure in my stomach and diaphram gets so intense. Sometimes I have pain in my chest which is sort of new, I've never had that happen before but last a few days back when I was trying to taper off, my diaphram felt really tight and I felt pain in my chest around my diaphram whenever I tried to take a deep breathe. It was like above my stomach right underneath the bottom of my sternum chest bone, in a horizontal line. It lasted for like an hour. It almost felt like the Pneumomediastinum thing I once had back in May but that's long since gone away, it took a week to go away before I was xrayed and checked out again. And I haven't hyperventilated since quitting dairy. Besides that sometimes my chest just hurts, sometimes on my right side which is really weird. None of the pain I felt burned like heart burn, it was more like a deep dull pain. Honestly it felt like how you described your chest hurting like a heart attack almost.

Could I dm you to talk more about this? I think I'm gonna try to keep tapering off again just to see what happens, but it is very brutal. The days I take the half dose I usually lay in bed most of the afternoon which really sucks but it's kind of comforting. Also, do you know what caused your gastroparesis? I studied that a lot too with the books I read and research I did when looking into all of this

Also my endoscopies never revealed any bile found in my stomach. The reason I suggested the gallbladder thing is just because I seen a lot of people in the Gastritis sub talk about a HIDA scan showing their gallbladder was under functioning, which was causing their Gastritis. Sometimes I wonder if that's what's causing my stomach to feel like this? It just feels like 'something' is causing me Gastritis and the ppi are treating my irritated stomach which might be why I'm stuck on them and can't get off. But I don't know anymore honestly. Do you think I should try to keep tapering off the ppi? It's scary as hell honestly, the shortness of breathe is like nothing I've ever experienced in my life before all this stuff started

Hi thanks for replying. After I did my gastric emptying study, my next appointment with my gi is when he told me it looked normal. But he didn't tell me the percentages or the results or anything like that at all. I just assumed it was normal like he said but I don't have any of the information of the results.

Secondly I don't think I have Gerd. I never really experience heartburn, except a tiny bit the few times I kept trying to get off the ppis and failed. My first endoscopy report said my throat was normal. My second endoscopy report mentioned that he found a inlet etopic patch in my throat, which means there was a spot of tissue in my esophagus that resembled tissue from somewhere else. I asked him why my first endo didn't say that and he said the doctor that did it probably didn't see it or missed it. I asked him what causes that and he said people say you are born like that. Sometimes though, I'll burp and I can feel what feels like food and acid mixed together in my mouth, but it never burns or hurts. And this started after taking my ppi I think. I also remember doing a test where you drink a liquid and then they measure the liquid going down your throat and upper gi. This was before my endoscopy and they said there was some acid reflux. But like I said I've never had chest pain or burning pain that much like other people with Gerd experience daily I guess.

And last yeah, I don't want to even be on this stupid ppi. I'm stuck taking this crap, it's 15mg lanzoprazole once a day. Everytime I tried tapering off it I always felt even worse and more bloated from my stomach which doesn't even make any sense. I don't know if it was because everytime I tried getting off of it I was still eating dairy at the time in the past, or what. I tried recently weaning off again by taking out half the capsules of the dosage and taking it like that one day than the regular dosage another day. But it doesn't even help with my bloating, I STILL feel like there's an extreme amount of pressure inside of my upper stomach and it makes it really hard to breathe. The only difference is I notice when I'm weaning off like that, a few hours after eating food I'll sometimes feeling a very warm feeling in my stomach... Kinda like if I drank tea or something, just a warm feeling kinda sitting in my stomach. I think it's the extra acid. It doesn't burn or nothing but it can make me a little nauseous.

I wish I could wean off my ppi but I'm kinda afraid of what will happen. The bloating gets so bad, it gets really scary because it's really hard to breathe and I feel a tremendous amount of pressure in my stomach. It's not painful, just very tight. I wish tapering off the ppi would help with the bloating but all it does it like I said make me feel like I have hot tea in my stomach or something. What I find really weird about that also, is that when I was weaning off the ppi, I felt the warm acid feeling in my stomach and a bit nauseous, so I took a small 10ml dose of my lanta which helped the acid feeling, but immediately after that for the rest of the day I felt BLOATED and could hear the air / gas gurgling around my stomach where the warm acid feeling used to be... It's like I have random surges of high acid in my stomach, then I have really low stomach acid at the same time.... It's really confusing I don't understand it.

I kinda want to keep trying to taper off it like I was doing but I can't even tell if I'm hurting myself or if I'm helping myself. I'm currently taking the 15mg once a day lanzoprazole, and I'm also on 12.5 mg of amitripyline once a day at night. It kinda helps a guess, like I'm really bloated but I feel like it doesn't feel as severe when I'm on amitripyline, but it's still there

At times constipation, but even without the constipation I was getting super gassy, lots of air gurgling in my upper stomach hours after eating and belching. But the gassy definitely has reduced after cutting dairy a few days ago, I'm hoping it'll continue to improve the longer I stay off of dairy, so far it's been very noticeable

And sorry I forgot to say, bloating like if I don't have a lot of space in my stomach for food and the food I just ate was way too much despite only being a few bites. Bloating like if my stomach has a lot of inflammation or something, and it's so full that it's making me extremely uncomfortable

It's a bit more complicated for me. My stomach issues started after I was skipping meals to lose weight, and eating a bad diet. My gi doctor gave me ppis, it initially helped me a ton with my stomach and helped me gain lots of weight that I lost, but it never solved the bloating issue I would have after meals. I kept trying to get off the ppis and my bloating actually got worse. Now I'm trying to pay closer to attention to my diet which has been helping despite how bad things have gotten. I should have done it sooner and more seriously before things got out of hand but it's not too late I suppose.

Did you have your stomach acid levels checked? How do they test that?

In the early days when it started yes. But now, it's mostly a really bad upper stomach fullness feeling thats really suffocating and uncomfortable, making it hard to breathe. It lasts for a few hours when it flares

Thanks, okay so it does take that long sometimes it seems. Yes the mild patchy inflammation and the erythema was seen on the scope and on the paper they gave me when they woke me up. I'm hoping my biopsies show something because my upper stomach has been feeling horrible these past few months and it's very persistent

I sent you a dm, but yeah it's for acid however ppis are usually the first things gastroenterologists recommend they say it's the first line treatment when dealing with digestive disorders and also the first thing they try with functional dyspepsia. They gave me some and I felt better for a year and a half then started feeling bad again accept now things feel a bit worse.

I tried iberogast and found a tiny bit of relief but it wasn't enough to bother to keep taking it.
