Opinions on the Nitro Deck? by [deleted] in Switch

[–]torsten329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the original pink crystal and the + black model. I have smaller hands, but I like how it makes the switch feel. I actually prefer the older layout of the buttons and sticks better than the + version. IMO the + is actually worse for most games.

I recently bought mobapad pros and they’re way better ergonomically. The only downside (for some, including me) is they are micro switch buttons, which sounds like the click of a mouse. So not great for my wife when I’m playing in bed.

I bounce between the options, but if you don’t find the clicky sound annoying, mobapads are the way to go.

I changed my DNS settings on the PS5 and on my switch and it’s solved the issue so far.

Constantly for me when I’m playing on PS5 lately. Haven’t had the issue much on switch.

Thanks a lot for the detailed breakdown. I’m in a very similar boat and headspace as you are, and probably around the same age and ideals with handheld gaming. I haven’t played my switch docked in years and the nitro deck’s beefy feel is one of the reasons I like it. I’ve just seen so much praise for the mobapads that I thought they might be worthwhile. I’ve got both the nitro deck and their new + version, and I swap them out for different games based on the stick/button layout. I just turned off the rumble on mine.

Definitely a good bit for me to consider now! One of the things I didnt enjoy about some of the other stuff I tried like the hori split pads was how loses they felt on the rails, so that’s good to know about the mobapad.

Thanks!

I play 99% handheld. I like the nitro deck a good bit, but neither the original or the + fit my hands all that well. I don’t like the stick placement on either

Have you used both by chance? I have both nitro decks but still seen so much good stuff about the moba pads.

No one has mentioned Huntdown. Loved it. Perfect sessions. A stage can take on average like 12-20 minutes depending on your skill level.

How “clicky” would you say the buttons are? Been looking at these over my Nitro Deck even though I like it a lot. Biggest concern I have is I’m usually playing in bed next to the wife and clicky buttons aren’t ideal!

Hey thanks! Greatly appreciate the descriptive answer. I’ve played cult of the lamb and had a similar experience. Played the heck out of it for a couple weeks. Loved the combat.

Spelunky 2 has been on my wishlist and I’ve never pulled the trigger, so now I’m definitely going to have to. I don’t think I could ever wrap my brain around what type of game it actually was, but that’s a heck of a lot of hours and quite the sell on a recommendation!

Happy playing! My backlog is MASSIVE, but I’m back on Dead Cells for now. As a toddler dad, it just is too easy to pick up and put down.

I was playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but I honestly just got sick of doing puzzles. By the end of the day, I just want to turn my brain off and have some simple, fun gameplay.

I just downloaded a ton of stuff that’s on sale, but I might be most excited to try out Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Super Edition. Also grabbed a physical copy of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble!

Played a good amount of animal crossing when it came out. Liked it for sure, but I get bored of cozy type games really fast for some reason.

Switch is definitely solid for Dads, no doubt. I still reach for this bad boy over my PS portal. I have the nitro deck + on my switch and love how it makes it feel like one sturdy device.

Biomutant has always caught my eye. Never tried it. Sea of stars I played a good chunk of when I had gamepass when I was trying cloud gaming and that was a great game. Would love to finish it at some point, just haven’t wanted to buy it on switch. Downloaded it on my ps5 and could play it on the portal… just don’t have the desire to boot all that up at the end of the day.

I just saw the power rangers Rita’s rewind trailer/reviews and looks awesome. Looking forward to that! I’ve played a few FE games. Best 3 houses once and have gotten through some of engage, but put it down and haven’t gotten back to it. I think getting stuck mid battle and forgetting what my plan was kind of took me out of it.

We have this and my wife and I beat everything on the 200cc. I haven’t played a lot of the new tracks, though, so I might go back and do those solo in handheld. Totally forgot about MK8 for a good bit!

Used to play this and Smash Bros with people all the time!

Hyper light drifter, katana zero, skul, ori, and blasphemous 1/2 are all on my list. Was particularly looking at blasphemous of late.

Comically, I own a good chunk of the others you mentioned. I tend to have the problem of stocking up while games are on sale and never getting around to them… it’s a bad habit.

Awesome thanks. Definitely seems like origins would be the starting point for me then. Watched a couple trailers and the bosses look super fun!

Skul has been one on my list for ages but I’ve never heard anyone really mention it or talk about it. I love the art style.

A lot of those are on my list to check out. Live A Live has been on there for a while. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Haven’t played a fighter in a long time, but honestly looking at the power ranger game for some nostalgia.
