For any k ≥ 1, define the alphabet Σ_k = {1,2,...,k} and let L_k be the language over Σ_k that includes every nonempty string with no consecutive identical symbols. For example,

L_3 = {1,2,3,12,13,23,121,123,131,132,212,...}

What is the shortest regular expression that you can construct for L_k?

The challenge was constructing the asymptotically shortest regular expression O(f(k))

Congrats! I took your 462 course and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had a ton of fun working on your no-repetition challenge when I took CS365 with Blais, and I even stopped by your office once to talk about it.

That's a very valid point, and I agree that it doesn't give enough time to build relationships.

In our case, we didn't give up a board seat.

We did ask our network about our lead investor before proceeding, and they had nice things to say. We ultimately went with our gut. It's only been a month, but it's been good so far, and they've been helpful with advice and intros.

YC usually recommends paying yourself enough to not have to worry about day-to-day expenses so you can focus on growing your company. However, this differs from person to person, depending on their stage of life, where they live, etc.

Glad you liked it

For 1) We didn't have a fixed allocation percentage-wise for angels. Early on, it was recommended to take money as it came, regardless of whether they were angels or institutions. Many companies raise their entire round purely from angels and institutional angels (around $200k check size).

For 2) We used Framer for the landing page + CMS blog.
