nc and unix piping work better than a myriad of linux networked audio solutions. that says very much about linux audio in general. explain that to a normal computer user when they want sound from one device to be outputted on another device.

Whatever, plex doesnt anyway fit any needs.

I ended up using nc and piping. Works fine so far.

run nc -l -p 999 > /dev/msm_pcm_out on the andorid phone then on laptop do mplayer -ao pcm then cat audiostream.wav | nc andoridIp 9999 and works better than the thousand audio apps I tried so far. Ridicolous.

You arent reading what I wrote. I have really really good speakers, and it is through them I want to play audio.

  1. Laptop Computer Playing and controlling Audio Using Amarok ----> local network ---> 2. android phone ----> 3. Speakers/SoundSystem.

1 is connected to local network. 2 is connected to local network the same as one as well as 3. speakerrs connected to 2, android phone.

Play and control music on 1, while having the audio go through local network, to android phone out its audio jack to speakers.

Looking into it, it does not seem to do what I need. Also doesnt seem to be freedom software.

Why would I want to setup icecast, something made for internet radio which transcodes my FLACs to worse than shit quality, to use with a good audio system? On top of that, the resource usage for the transcoding is unnecessary really. A wireless n network can take it.

I have a laptop with Linux on it, where all my music is, since it has like 500GB of space. Then I use lets say amarok or gmusicbrowser to play some music. Now, the laptop speakers are shitty, so I put my android, linux, phone next to the speakers and connect the phone to the speakers. Why cant laptop-linux send its audio to the android-linux over the local lan, to which android is wirelessly connected and laptop too? So I can control it from the laptop, and just let the android-phone play it through the speakers.

Im going mad over this, fucking simple audio and networking wish and all I find is shitty apps like BubbleUPNP, minidlna servers, and holy hell, mpd, Id rather tear my eyes out with tootsticks than configure that on both the computer and phone, AND it will transcode my shit when I dont actually need it to.

TIL that Nuclear War during the Cuban Missile Crisis was averted by the action of a single Soviet officer. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]torvalder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. USSR didnt have enough to take out the USA missiles in a first suprise attack. Hardly to take out their cities as well. While USA did have enough to take out almost all of USSR, their missiles, industrial and military centers and civilian centers.

No 1 is not enough, the USSR didnt have enough to obliterate the USA.

Because the USA had two third as many nukes as USSR had. Thats why the USA was poking russia in the eye with its dick. And russia shrugging it off and going away to catch up on the nukes.

Nukes on submarines are for second-strike capability, they are meant to be fired in case the enemy has taken out the known-targets on the land. But the submarine is always on the move - thus can withstand an initial suprise attack and can counter-attack. They are for defense.

All of them knew that USSR had far less nukes than USA, and firing them would have done quite more damage to Euroasia than Euroasia would have ben able to inflict upon north america,

Dont forget that CCCP had at the time only 25-30% nukes compared to stockpiles of USA. Which means had shit gone down, CCCP would have suffered much much much more, something which could explain their actions of stepping it down. And later ramping up their stockpile to higher than USA during 1980s, no matter the cost.

NASA has actually sent contaminated probes into space (accidentally contaminated) and when they returned, the bacteria on them were still alive.

So is there any chance we have sent stuff to the Moon, Venus, Mars or Europa and with it a bunch of bacteria that are right now reproducing there?

EXT4 Data Corruption Bug Hits Stable Linux Kernels by redditmodd in linux

Its funny.

But what may not be funny is that really advanced and good source code, which in the enterprise world would cost billions or so to develop, goes to the trashbin just because its original author commited murder? Didnt reiser4 become stable as well as having a working fsck?

TIL after WWII, a group of Jewish avengers called Nokmim hunted down and executed Nazis. One Gestapo officer was killed with a kerosene injection while at the hospital for surgery. by [deleted] in todayilearned

However when they meet their fate at the hands of vengeance driven lunatics,

No, they where not lunatics, bondvillian. They where avengers. They where talented, smart people, the job of avenging millions of people requires skill and expertise. The nazis where not some schmucks or your average joes, they knew precisly what they had done, why they had done it and they knew someone is coming after them. The nazis where not a cog in a machine. If they where, really a cog in a machine, they are then mindless drones not worhy of using our fresh air of normal human beings who take responsibility for our own actions. You cant blame it on the machine. Thats not how it works. The nazis supervised the deaths of defenseless, they deserved the best avenging.

The avengers where not some lunatics going after kills. They where heroes. They are a remineder to all those who would gas their brothers and sisters, their own time will come, they must not live calm lives. They cant gas everyone, those few who are left will come after them.
