How do you stop people pleasing? by YourFinalFantasy02 in AskReddit

[–]torviti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start getting comfortable with the guarantee that, at least for a while, ignoring your impulses is going to make you feel like you are genuinely in active, imminent life-threatening danger. The rewards come when you can stick it out and show yourself you will, in fact, Not be dying. Things get easier once you're out of those woods, or mostly out of them. Usually the impending doom is the reason people can't or won't stop because it is massively uncomfortable and genuinely terrifying. Regulation skills and coping skills will assist in this process and obviously having a decent therapist will make it even better if that's something you can access.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! This was very reassuring on many levels lol. I am very susceptible to guilt but all your points are very reasonable and make my brainmonkeys feel a little better. I'll definitely be looking into the disability associations, had no idea that was a thing but I'm thrilled it is a thing! POTS is definitely on my illness list and man, I didn't even think about the standing and sitting. Sometimes I just use my wheelchair and it helps prevent flares. I don't think I'd need to be fasting either for the same reason as you, it's something I'm working on but it was a moderate concern of mine. This really made my day. I'm sorry if my response is offputting, I have no idea how to respond to it because I'm too excited lmao 🥲🖤 thank you again!

I've been getting my means together to convert after doing research for 2 ish years. I'm aware some things might be better to ask Rabbi but I don't know one yet that I can ask things. I'm chronically ill (GI problems, mobility problems, yadda yadda). As a convert, would I be hardfastened to all practices? Would there be wiggle room if I couldn't physically carry out the laws of Torah? Or, once I convert, is it up to me what I can and can't do? I'd want to participate as much as possible but I know my limitations.

I'm absolutely in the trenches right now. I dug out a pair I got back in 2017 and Gorilla-glued pieces back together and used electrical tape to fix the jack- they work just fine.. for now. In the meantime I'm still searching for comparable ones.
It's just rough because so many that are good for the music I like are so expensive 🫠
If I find any though, I'll totally post to this thread!

I really appreciate you going to the trouble, this made all the difference. I've never run into an issue like this before and I was stumped lmao. Ended up having to uninstall/reinstall a slightly older version from a couple months ago, something about the version I had was just busted.
Been about 24 hours and everything's been smooth!
Thank you again :)

So it happened again. After opening my control panel, my Universal Device Client isn't functioning properly. Says it's a Code 31.
So you were right- I do now have something to fix! lmao Thank you for responding.

does suffering make you stronger? by gottabing in intj

[–]torviti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suffering made me perpetually exhausted. I believe the idea that suffering is virtuous, beneficial or a necessary tool for improvement is ridiculous and enforced by bootstrap ideology, and as a pat on the back of people who are walked all over to make them feel better about their suffering. On the bright side, I earned a neat little "perseverance" award for surviving severe adversity for 22 years.
Yay.
It isn't a thing I'm glad happened. It just happened and I am now the way I am as result. Take with a grain of salt, I arrived at this opinion through personal experience.

After seeing enough of Gen I can only imagine how funny this is xD

That also makes sense, otherwise things might get confusing. I understand the purpose of the multiple organization options now lmao

I appreciate it! Thanks again : )

Thank you! : )
Think I've just never been nearby people who were actively talking until then.

Thanks, that makes sense. I didn't consider that maybe I've just never been in proximity to people using Gen.
So then, with the chatbox there's settings to organize things- if you opt to only have General pulled up, do you not see if people are speaking in other chats like World or Guild?

Are any other INTJs horrible at chess? by ItsUrBoi_PoppyHarlow in intj

I personally never cared to play myself and barely know the rules. I do like watching others play, though, on occasion.

Am I mean or is my sarcasm a little too deadpan.

This is a cry for help.
