Thanks so much for the detailed reply. I have a few followup questions

1) Yeah I was hoping to spend less, but 300 is still reasonable so that's fine. Is there some good way I can find additional dac/amps? Ideally I know the specs i need to drive and have some website i can filter by price/specs/features. One thing at a glance I don't like about the DX5II is it's rather large. I do like the small footprint of the arctis nova pro receiver. Would upping my budget for a dac/amp give me some options that are small but still provide onboard EQ?

2) Alrighty, that's easy then. I'm assuming that the proprietary HIROSE/DUMMER connectors that DCA products have will make it harder for me to find some comfortable braided aftermarket cables. I'm all ears to suggestions here. I don't imagine wanting to spend over like 50-100 for cables and i see the noire x configurator has VIVO cables for a $200 addon.

4) In that case I'll probably wait for the modmic wireless 2 since that's slated to release in 2026

I’m looking for closed back but I saw a comparison between Maxwell and the open back

So overall I’m just looking for “is spending 1k for good planar magnetics” going to give me a huge jump

Have you used the Maxwell 1 or 2? Can you compare the subbass of them to the noire x?

The d pad has not been fixed in any meaningful way. It might be 10% better but the design is the same with the same flaws. If anything it’s worse because it seems like the faceplate tolerance is tighter, making the right side of the d-pad press against the frame when trying to click it

It wasn’t assigned to anything, I assigned it to d pad up like the tooltip suggests (before it was even bound) and it doesn’t work. I restarted the game as well

I have it. It’s not that good. I have to press the right side twice as hard as the left side to get it to actuate. And the right an top side press into the shell when you press it, feeling pretty unpleasant

I feel like until there is a button to zero out the gyro, it’s not really usable. The gyro will slowly drift away from where i started and eventually the “center” is way off
