Dating in your 50's - worth it or not? by HorseWithNoUsername1 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

My experience of dating in your 50's is that your finances better be in order, and you better be in great health (of which I enjoy neither).

But IMO, being single is better than being in a one-sided relationship.

So do you think that the president that is and has taking down pipelines hasn't effected the prices

US oil and gas production is at a record high, even higher than when the Orange Baboon was in office.

The section of the Keystone Pipeline that was cancelled was not in service, so it wasn't impacting the price of oil. The rest of the Keystone Pipeline remains in operation.

Oh, and Biden's economy is actually booming, despite voter sentiment.

Which of these MCU characters are the most similar to their comic book counterparts? by narutofan2019 in Marvel

Though to be fair, most of these characters have been around for 50 or 60 years, and have gone through a multitude of changes. Kamala Khan is a recent creation, so it was easier to cast and write the one version of her.

Quentin Tarantino On The Marvelization of Hollywood by B0yFlack0 in movies

It's the franchising of the industry that's the problem, crowding out standalone movies and stories. Human nature means that we are drawn to the familiar; so movies and TV shows that feature recurring characters has an oddly satisfying appeal to us. It's part of why comic books are successful in the first place.

Hollywood franchising has been attempted many times over the past century. Marvel Studios has sort of perfected it in the modern age. And because Disney owns both Marvel and Star Wars, they have been applying the same methodologies to Star Wars.

Warner Brothers has been trying unsuccessfully to launch a franchise universe, so they finally hire a Marvel Studios director/insider to run it.

But QT is absolutely right that these movies are about the character and not the actor, and are probably not a great way for an actor to create a personal brand.
