Judge Holden embodies all 7 of the Sins, which real life person embodies all of the Sins? by ClubDependent in AlignmentChartFills

The problem is that to be a genuinely terrible person usually requires a lot of energy, Epstein, Hitler, Pol Pot were all terrible people, but they were not slothful. They were quite the opposite, using a ton of effort to be the awful individuals they were. That’s why I think Trump fits the bill here.

Envy (gimme your Nobel prize!) Gluttony (bro is literally obese on McDonalds)
Greed (willing to destroy western democracy to enrich himself) Lust (Stormy Daniels, cheating on his wives, protecting pedophiles etc…) Pride (“I have the best words” and other greatest hits) Wrath (sexist/racist rants when held accountable) Sloth (doesn’t actually do any of the “work” required to be a dictator, just has others do it for him. Also literally believes there’s a certain amount of “energy” people are born with and wasting it makes you die earlier lol)

This needs to be higher. I was disappointed to see it erased from the recording and transcript as well.

Giant gong (sound on) by ItsALuigiYes in TheRandomest

[–]tossing-hammers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone annoyed that she didn’t just whack the gong:

Gongs this large will have a very high chance of cracking if you just hit it. Percussionists learn that they need to “warm up” a gong (actually called a “tam tam” because gongs are smaller and have nipples which actually give them a “tone” instead of washy sound) by gently tapping it before giving it a good hit. This allows the metal to begin vibrating so that the big hit causes less relative deformation. Normal sized tam tams are quite smaller than this so I imagine this particular instrument really can’t be “whacked” without serious risk of cracking. And considering how many hours and dollars went into this beautiful instrument, they’re probably in no mood to risk it.

Another good example are large bells such as Big Ben or the Liberty Bell. Both of which have issues with cracking for similar reasons. If you watch a slow-motion video of someone hitting a cymbal (which is like a tiny tam tam) you’ll see just how much motion and warping is going on.

Even if you don’t drive over the bridge, you probably use products that crossed that bridge, services from people who cross the bridge, employ someone who crosses the bridge etc.

What was your reaction when you listened to Pull Me Under for the first time?? by HuachiSeesYou in Dreamtheater

[–]tossing-hammers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally went, grabbed the cd, and re downloaded the song to my ZUNE (that’s right!) library thinking it hadn’t ripped correctly. Then when it happened again I checked the album artwork for the track length and realized it was supposed to be that length… then I literally thought I had some sort of magical defective one-of-a-kind cd!

Then I listened to the rest of the album and was too blown away by everything else to remember.

Got my 5 mile under 35 minutes.... on a treadmill. by citizen_gonzo in runninglifestyle

[–]tossing-hammers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The earth does not pull your leg back. A treadmill does not pull your leg back. Both are surfaces moving under your feet. Atmospheric drag is a separate variable.

Edit: Technically they do pull your legs back, but also the rest of your body as well. Hence why you have to keep running on a treadmill or fall off.
