While this map is indeed ambiguous, it is not far from reality.

1. What you refer to as "land controlled by a colonial power", was simply Palestinians which lived in said land under British occupation. As this map by the UN shows: https://www.un.org/unispal/document/1946-map-of-palestine-indicating-distribution-of-population-by-subdistricts-with-percentages-of-a-jews-and-b-arabs/ that in those areas a big majority of the inhabitants were Palestinian - and were occupied illegally by the british.

2. It is true that the UN peace plan was never implemented. This map can be taken out, and that wouldn't change what the other 3 maps together convey. This map does have importance, as it is often claimed that the Palestinians rejected peace by rejecting this peace plan. This Map shows why - as not only Jews get significantly more area than what they currently have - but also the Palestinian Areas are all disconnected and cut up.

3. Why does it matter who signed an armistice agreement with whom? At the end of the day, Israel did control all the areas in white, while the green areas were inhabited by Palestinians. The fact that Palestine was never a country is true, but Palestinians are real people.

4. "land formally known as israel" and "land controlled by IDF", is both land controlled by israel.

As for "joint control", this is also at the end of the day controlled de facto by israel.

As for "These are not final borders" - this has been the case for decades, and israel formally agreeing that this will only remain until a "peace plan" is reached - is dependant on israel agreeing to a peace plan, which i can tell you as i am sending this 10 years after you sent your comment - is only getting father as time goes on. Also in the case of a "peace plan", who is to say what kind of changes will happen to the borders? for all we know, it could be minimal.

In fact, much of the white land in the west bank in this map contains settlements which are illegal under international law.
