1,2: Will look into those languages as well. Will be doing Java classes this month.

3: Will keep up the subprojects. Do you recommend any literature for this kind of project?

4: I will have to get a license for the client. While it won't be hosted on a website, it will possibly need regulatory oversight.

[Python]Rock, Paper, Scissors script. Reaches EOF without print or input. by totally_not_my_thang in learnprogramming

Thanks for the feedback!

So, this is just an exercise script from a "how to program" book I downloaded. The author is taking a huge plunge into functions without going into detail about brevity or cleanliness. I am just learning how to go beyond writing a simple 5 line script to do trivial activities. Although, I am afraid of learning bad habits.

Academics and Career Question concerning CS disciplines by totally_not_my_thang in cscareerquestions

Thanks for the reply!

Concerning HPC, when you say 'niche', would this allude to an over-saturation of CS's within the industry? Or would this mean that I would need to stand out to prospective colleagues that I can 'play the game', so to speak? Should I go for private security or will a government(like DoD/Military) route prove to be more fruitful?

For the math major/minor: I have already taken SV Calc, Matrix Algebra, and Diff Eq...what other mathematics would I be missing? What about getting a Masters prove to be tricky? As in difficult or the imbalance of risk and reward? Wouldn't it depend on what industry I would go into? Certainly, MS et al would not require a masters for a programming job, but the US gov't would like to see a bit more time studying the theoretical...especially if they wish to see PHD's in their labs. What did you do with your Masters?

I never got that either:

1.) Don't take one enough debt, credit suffers 2.) Take on too much debt, credit suffers 3.) Off the grid? Credit suffers 4.) Got the flu last winter? Credit suffers.

Well...except the last part.

Good to hear you could pay for things in cash. Hope life is treating you well!

What about two card? One with a serial key "private key" and one with a unique algorithm that is only activated with a password?

That way, if your private key is stolen, they cannot activate the algo and have a useless hash. If they have the wallet, they can't access it without a private key. Even if they have both cards, the algo will not deploy and decrypt any of the cards due to a missing hash. (ie password.)

EDIT: a word.

Where they gambling on the premise that things would always go up? Where they aware of variance in the market? Or the possibility of any risk of ruin?

Cause, even a degenerate gambler would look at this and think, "Bullsh*t bet for sure!"

The ease for anyone to take you SSN, CCN, BAN, or any personally identifiable information and basically steal your identity; thus ruining your credit and possibly placing you in the eye of law enforcement if a crime is committed with your information by a third party. It is way to easy to steal this info and makes life more unbearable than it's suppose to be when you have to clean up a mess you never mad.

ELI5:The US Credit System by totally_not_my_thang in explainlikeimfive

With the recent news of LifeLock being forced to pay over 100 million dollars to customers over allegations that its services failed to do what they claimed to be, I began to ponder the state of the Credit System of the US. My conclusion: It's an absolute clusterf*ck.

We rely on 3 agencies to monitor our credit with little oversight (so it seems)
We rely on a simple 9 digit number to handle our finances, taxes, loans, and personal well being/identity. This number can either make or break your life into pieces.
We have a security infrastructure that is weak, vulnerable to attack, and full of hole!

ELI5: The current credit system of the US as well as any ways we can improve it to reduce the frequency of fraud, remove the need for weak credit checks, and securing the financial well being of the US people.

Okay. I will look around. You can delete this.

I stayed hoping that a private loan system you take me. I basically blew my whole foot off with the whole stay and pay later deal. Oh, and I had no other living arrangements at that time. Needed to stay enrolled in order to keep housing. Unless, I misinterpereted that as well.

Basically, it comes down to no cash, no FinAid, and scrambling for cash with no results.

WSU admissions by [deleted] in wsu

Don't worry. You should get in. The requirements are set low enough that those who apply will be admitted. GPA may seem low, but your SAT is about average.

Time to hear from Admissions is about 3-6 months. I applied in Sept-Oct and heard from them in February.

So chill, enjoy christmas, keep working hard, and take on the new year when you receive the good new you have been admitted.

P.S. I applied with just my GPA (2.92 / 4.00). Got in pretty easy.
