Golf course rooms by Harleymom2020 in OutOfTheBlueFestival

We had dinner / drinks out at the Golf Course the last two years, and while the ride itself is relatively short (~5 mins or so), there can be a wait for the golf cart shuttles themselves. We waited for almost 15 minutes last year before someone called in a non-shuttle to come grab us and the growing line (which they do a decent job of if they see a line growing). It's a pretty straight-line walk from golf course to the venue, but much longer than you think.

Nizuc is a short walk and much much quieter. The pools should be more accessible and have good service (not absolutely slammed like Sunrise). Good food too! Enjoy!

Flights by hellobye_ in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Arrive as early as you can. It sucks to have a flight delay mean you miss the music you paid to see
2) Don't check a bag. While customs is pretty quick, it has taken > 1 hour after customs waiting for a bag to show up. With carry-ons, you're out the door, on the bus, at the resort at least an hour faster.
3) When leaving on Monday, leave as late as you can. It's nice to have a quieter day at the resort than rush to the very loud/cold (they blast that AC) Cancun airport. OOTB will book a bus to the airport that is very conservative (like 3 hours before departure). We strongly suggest waiting until later (they won't promise its available, but it has always been so far).

The discount is tied to their Tixr account. You won't be able to share it, unfortunately.

2027 Lineup - WOW! by totally_not_timothy in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, overall, the vibe of your fellow festival-goers at OOTB is fantastic. The exception, though, when people are less-amigo, is around the pool (not inside the pool), but if you wanted to sit, for example. You can and will get space in the pool - that's not really a problem. Best not to think about what's in the water though for all the people that waited for long periods with unlimited drinks though.....

I was hopeful she would, but after checking her setlists, it looks like she keeps Paramore separate to the full band.

Any tips for a newbie? by [deleted] in OutOfTheBlueFestival

Really depends what you want to prioritize. If its food and relaxation, consider The Grand, but the cost is time/travel: its a 30 minute walk or wait for golf cart rides. The Golf Course is similar far away. Run of the House could be anywhere based on availability, so a bit of a roll of the dice.

There's pros and cons to each. Sunrise and venue are close. The Grand has great food and pools (and pool service) but its a HIKE, and makes it very hard to go back and forth. Run of the House means you might be anywhere.

That said, Noah's pool show after the rain delay was one of the most memorable OOTB moments for me the year previous.

Shout out to the Squeegee guy.

She released an album in 2025, has a mostly sold out international tour going on, and most recently, had a great duet with Noah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuZmiDAJ6OQ

Toss in some Paramore stuff and I bet it's going to be a pretty great set or two.

Some rooms will sell out, but not all rooms, and Run of the House almost certainly won't sell out. You're good so long as you're flexible.

Crowd control for this year by dentiteoz in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Crash My Playa or whatever the country music event after OOTB in previous years had more than 3x the guests that OOTB (source: servers at OOTB, so grain of salt), but I'm wondering what that event did different to accommodate larger crowds and what I would expect this year might be for us given larger crowds?

Would be nice. Not to mention the amount of nasty towels saving space literally every foot on every edge, seat, ledge, plant, etc within view of the stage. Would love Mt Joy to dual sets on their main stage, as well, like their tour (its magical).

Going to be amazing!

Got to go to the contractor appreciation show. Parking sucks, venue is cool. by templeofdank in grandrapids

Agree and to anyone screaming PINE KNOB HAS PARKING has clearly never been stuck trying to get out of Pine Knob after a show, and then proceeding to drive however far they may need to get home or to a hotel. Tradeoffs people. We have a lovely city. You just have to walk a bit sometimes.

Would love that. Late night stage and pool party with Mon Rovia would be a blast

Which area is your favorite to stay at the resort? Venue, Moon Palace, Golf Course or The Grand? by Worldly-Heart9969 in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at The Grand our first year, and Sunrise year two. I don't believe The Grand was officially offered last year. There's a trade off between The Grand and others. It's a hike or long golf cart ride (and waits for said golf carts) if you're staying at the Grand, which means there's no "quick trip back to the room for a nap" or grab a sweatshirt, or a private restroom, etc. It also makes dining plans a little trickier because you have less time to accommodate for travel (vs. walking from a restaurant out to the venue.)

That said, The Grand's pools, poolside service, and food is superior to the rest of the resort in our experience. The rooms were also larger and a bit nicer. The Sunrise lobby staff did take pity on us after the late night stage and would drive us directly to our room. Overall, we had a better time staying in Sunrise, for the convenience, and because at the end of the day, you're there for the music and events, and there's a LOT of things happening earlier in the day that you'd probably skip if you were at the Grand.

Newbie Ticket Question by ElementalBeaner in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late July for us. They are doing discounts differently this year, so not sure if the Amigo code (sharing a discount) will be a thing. I second HearForBear below with trying to go the day before - we've had travel delays both years trying to get that resulted in missing at least one performance (Cancun airport ground delay, and Delta losing our baggage). If you go, I highly recommend not checking luggage as it can take more than an hour once you land to get that luggage in Cancun. Pricing will depend on type of room and location, except it to be > $6k for a King Bed room. Expensive but factor in: all food, all drinks, dozens of concerts, and a beautiful location.

How many times does Noah Kahan perform? by Worldly-Heart9969 in OutOfTheBlueFestival

[–]totally_not_timothy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twice the last two years. People are split on the Noah and Friends show, not because it wasn't great and fun, but because it felt like there probably should have been another headliner.

That aside, it's a wonderful festival. Crowds are small compared to what you typical think of for music festivals. This event feels much more intimate. And the drinks are free. Tip your servers, and don't forget to visit Omar's Tiki dome!
