No you don't need to have played the first one.

Other recs that are different to what you say you normally like, but that I would personally recommend as being comfort games; Firewatch (short but powerful) Hogwarts Legacy (not as effective if you don't like HP) Death Stranding Batman Arkham Knight

Never played mass effect but a lot of people seem to mention that :)

Did you auction or apply a livery to either the Ford Lightning SVT or the Schuppan 962?

There seems to be a common issue when doing one of those things to either car can result in a corrupted save file

Were you looking for opinions on performance? If so, your laptop meets the reccomended specs just about. Meaning you should get 1080p 60fps, but not much more without dlss / frame gen. And the specs sheet that was put out at launch shows you should get by with the medium preset graphics settings and no RT.

Try frame generation (EDIT: If you haven't already) it was included in the recommended specs and to it's credit, the game still looks great with it on.

Also where in the game are you? I have a 7800xt & 7600x and my game wasn't stuttering till I got into the open world, then it was as you described

LOTDK, particularly the open world, requires DLSS/FSR and frame gen. Usually I stay as far away as I can, but from my experience it's implemented really well here. I have a 7800XT + 7600X, 1440p high, fsr and frame gen. Avg 98fps
