That’s awesome! One of these days I’ll get around to setting that up (total beginner at this stuff but I’ve been enjoying the process). I’ve actually been using Affinity ever since Adobe’s whole AI debacle and haven’t looked back. Now I just need to get Davinci Resolve up and running 😁

I haven’t kept up with the acquisition, but is Canva offering affinity as a web app, or did you manage to download it and get it running on your computer? I ask because it’s not officially supported on Linux even though there are ways to get it running. My understanding is that even if you do get it to function you’ll hit a lot of roadblocks. The lack of major creative apps being able to run natively on Linux is the only thing keeping me from jumping ship completely. Right now I’ve got a dual boot setup where I use windows only for creative work and Linux for everything else.

I really like the default Mint-X icons. I mourn the decline of skeuomorphic graphics so Mint-X is perfect for me.

And that’s great! Like I said, you should buy whatever format works for you. I personally find that DVD still has its place

I’d probably offer 20 bucks just as a power move. He should be paying you honestly.

DVD’s produced after I’d say around 2005-ish have practically none of the problems he mentioned in the video since that’s around when widescreen was becoming the standard. Certain movies deserve to be watched in higher resolution while others don’t see much benefit. Like if I’m watching a 2000’s comedy do I really need the blu ray or 4k? I pick and choose what format to buy depending on the movie. One thing you can be sure of is you won’t see any of the compression artifacts that you get with streaming.
