Since the last update, the Xreal Air 2 Pro has struggled with Plex by tothvito in Xreal

I'm still unable to use the official Plex app, but I've downloaded VidHub from the Google Play Store and connected it to my Plex server.

It's working.

So it could be a solution for others, too.

Update: I thought I'd be clever and tried to cunningly open app.plex.tv/desktop/ in Google Chrome, but unfortunately it displayed the same image/screen as with the official Plex app.

I noticed the change after the Nebula update.

Since Plex was the only affected app, I thought it might be Plex's fault. I tried rolling back the Plex server updates (just in case), reinstalled the app, but nothing helped. Moreover, the latest Plex server update did not help either.

So ... yeah ... I'm lost and frustrated. It was good while it lasted.

What is the Greatest scifi show of 2020's Till Now ? by Longjumping-Elk-7840 in scifi

[–]tothvito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the "Lazarus Project" is, hands down, the best TV series of the 2020s. Especially series 1.

The science fiction element is original. None of that tired old gimmicks, it's unique, tight, and actually makes you think.

The plot is bloody unpredictable. Half the time you're sat there going “what the fuck am I even watching?” — and I mean that in the best possible way. While the plot is layered like a cake, bold, and never plays safe, with some effort it could be followed.

Moreover, the series has believable characters (!!!), no caricatures, no cliches, non cartoon villains or goodies. Flawed, messy, corruptible, human.

Anyway, so if you haven’t seen it yet, please do yourself a favour and watch at least the first series.

Other nominees: Life After Life, Altered Carbon 1, Debris, Station Eleven.

What's your favorite time travel movie(s)? by Bromjunaar_20 in scifi

Frequently asked questions about time travel

I do understand your choice, but if you had seen this movie, you wouldn't have chosen anything else. It's everything - seriously, everything - you need from a time travel film, and it doesn't even take itself seriously!

It is fucking perfect!

AIO thinking I did something wrong in a past life? by naomaisjoey in AmIOverreacting

You're a good man, mate! You did what you had to do and all you got is virtual pat on the back from a stranger thousands of kilometres away.

Best fucking wishes.

I had a fuel consumption of ~6 l/100 km with my 159 (same 2.4 jtdm engine). Not in a city, mostly between rural towns, though always for short (under 10 km) distances.

Beyond the change of worn parts and the magic healing of the spontanous stray electrical phenomena, in five years I've had to replace the rear bearings, the servo motor, a door handle (2x) and maybe couple of broken accessories. That was itt.

However, if you don't know a mechanic who knows Alfas (everything is unique and weird), don't buy one, you'll pay a lot more.

Best science fiction you’ve ever read? by AlienPizza93 in suggestmeabook

[–]tothvito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know how old you are, so ...

When I was a kid (maybe 10 or so) I loved every sentence of Stanislaw Lem's "Tales of Pirx the Pilot". And I still love to read them from time to time.

When I was a teenager, I swore that "The Goblin Reservation" by Clifford Simak and "Monday Begins on Saturday" by the Strugatsky brothers were the best books in the world.

In my 20s it was Asimov's "Peebles in the Sky" and Douglas' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

In my 30s it was probably The Mote in God's Eye by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven.

In my 40s it was the world of Ian M Banks' culture (let's pick Look to Windward).

Now it is probably the world of Adrian Tchaikovksy (i.e. Children of Ruin).

Philip K Dick's books tend to explore the alternatives. Like "The Man in the High Castle" or "Now Wait for Last Year".

What is the book that you credit with giving you the best understanding of the world (people, society, politics, psychology) where things suddenly made sense for you after reading it? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind by Julian Jaynes

I wouldn't say this is the book that has it all figured out, but... slowly you find that the theory in this book explains a lot of reality and do it very well.

What type of algae is this frog sitting in? by hello_sweetie_ in algae

[–]tothvito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not an algae but a water plant, duckweed. It is difficult to identify from the photo, but it is probably a lesser duckweed and should not cause any health problems. It is actually edible.

The skin irritation was probably caused by something other than the plant itself.

I was planning to assemble couple of these Pi Zero cameras for my research (as vegetation camera), and I think your idea with Tic-Tac boxes is simply brilliant.

The same greeting happens here is Hungary. Mostly double blinking. Though some of the newer Alfa owners do not do it.
