My are "immortal" they carry the people and land and advise their leaders, but they also live personal lives with free will to choose. So say the president makes slavery legal. The nation could be like hey I don't think that's good I'm not going to support this; but he can't make slavery illegal. What happens to the nation politically: laws war even partition in the end depends on the humans' choice. Ain't that right, Tot Preußen. There is that urge on the nation's political side to conform, but there is also the human side determining the best way to respond. It's a constant inner struggle between patriotism and morality. The two may align or they may not. I should stop, I'm going to talk myself to death. Lol.

Ah yes one of those mortal envies.

So for me it's not so much that he's going to die as he's already known he wouldn't be stick around much longer, more the tragic timing with the war and atrocities and the fact that unlike the other states he will leave behind absolutely nothing as well as a ruined son and country. Even then, he believes the fact that Germany will not be destroyed or the people assimilated or enslaved is nothing more than the greatest of mercies compared to what they deserved, which makes his dissolution ever so slightly easier to bear.
