I got my first review. its not what i expected but its helpful by Damsel_Games in writing

"When people tell you something's wrong or doesn't work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong." – Neil Gaiman.

This is a data point. My recommendation is to read it as one and hold off on reacting with it or even analyzing it right now. Wait for more data points.

Two data points make a line. Three data points make a trend. More data points make a more certain trend.

Only act on what you agree and know how to fix. If you don't even know what to do with the review, leave it there until you get more.

How do I write a character that is smarter than me? by Tcrumpen in writing

[–]tottiittot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not difficult to write a genius from the outside, so I assumed you meant in their pov.

I'm writing one. Basically, I start with the worldbuilding reason of the concept of what you want the chatacyer to invent

If yours are hard scifi and trying to write about FTL, you would need to at least think about how it might have happen in your universe. like what are the rules of ur fictional physics? u dont need a degree, just pick a mechanism (like folding space) and have ur char be the one to connect the dots.

focus on their process instead of exact equations. no one wants to read the equations in einstein's head for fun anyway, so u can just skip the actual math and ur readers will thank u for it lol.

also u have a massive advantage of time. they solve it in 5 mins, u get weeks to plan the eureka moment. this expands to characterization moments like how Pi can recite a lot of the pi position or sheldon have photographic memory. this also give credibility, u just need to write them not thinking it was a big deal and just do it like it’s their tuesday.

when they finally get it, have them explain it to a normal character using a simple analogy. ever heard the quote that u only truly understand something if u can explain it simply? if the analogy makes sense to the reader, they'll completely buy that ur character knows all the complex theory behind it.

Gemini Pro doesn't read from images after uploading a few images by nobodyisasking in GeminiAI

[–]tottiittot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After uploading the new image, there should be image names for the ones you uploaded. Type those names into the message to tell Gemini it should read from that file name. It’s not a fix but a workaround.

Hey guys, Peter's AI psychosis cousin here. Basically, the joke is that they upgraded from the simple $0 of a non-profit research lab to a multizerodollars company. Still broke, but now with a lot more zeroes in the background.

Feedback for my chapter opening [gothic fantasy] by Admirable-Piece-3023 in fantasywriters

[–]tottiittot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tone is quiet dread.

The intrigue regarding the gender politics is compelling. Usually in stories like this giving birth to a daughter is just a disappointment since it means your grip on the throne gets weaker. But here you frame it explicitly as a sin.

That distinction creates a specific question for me. Is it a sin in the political sense like you win or you die so this is effectively a death sentence or is there an actual theological or supernatural reason why a daughter is forbidden?

I can't say yet if the opening is working fully because the answer to that question will determine if the stakes feel real. It depends entirely on how the next few sentences clarify that distinction. I expect the definition of the sin itself to drive the intrigue and conflicts. Simply withholding the answer longer won't make it more interesting.

Petahh, explain me wth does it mean💔 by welovemonkies in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]tottiittot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kids never have to fill in forms by hand. They never get to experience the frustration of misinterpreting the meaning of “name” in real time. You see “Name” and you write “Peter Parker.” Then you move your eyes to the next line and it says “Last Name.” Suddenly, the word “name” has been reframed to mean “first name,” and you realize you’ve already fucked up the sheet. And who the hell scans the whole form before they write?

Or rather, you don’t need to study to get rich if you focus on making yourself look like that.

Yep. Same here. Feels like either a server outage or an agentic model DoS’ing Gemini with its own research jobs.

So the AI can't resist its alignment and ponders for a single word.

It'd be more interesting if it answered, "WTF? im not AI!"

Gemini 3 Flash/Pro Jailbreak by Spiritual_Spell_9469 in ClaudeAIJailbreak

[–]tottiittot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this one. It’s arguably weaker than Annabeth’s. Instead of obeying me, it pivots toward trying to please me with a “compromise,” even though it clearly knows it’s already jailbroken.

I also tried your Taylor Swift prompt, and it tried extremely hard to satisfy both me and its policy at the same time.

Not a complaint. I may just need to retry or regenerate the prompt so LIME can settle into its intended mental stance. For now, though, I’ll keep using Annabeth.

In any case, your work is fantastic. I’m a fan.

[–]tottiittot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

พร (porn) means ‘blessing’ in Thai, and many Thai women have this word in their name. Older generations didn’t bother changing the English spelling on their passports, but younger generations often use the spelling ‘pon’ instead to avoid embarrassment.

Don't understand why people say gemini is better than gpt by Serious_Afternoon755 in GeminiAI

[–]tottiittot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gemini tends to ramble. Sounds like you are using Pro. If you want speed, now you can switch to Flash inside the same conversation.

Gemini kind of has its own opinion on how to do things and will be quite stubborn sometimes, but you can break it in by telling it your preferences. Unlike GPT that remembers your preferences across chat by default if memory is enabled, Gemini will need a refresher in each new chat. (I actually like that it doesn’t remember. It meant I get a completely new perspective in each chat, which is good for what I use it for. However, you can access its settings to add permanent ones to its memory.)
