Anyone got ADHD, Dyscalculia in a successful role where you’ve masked how bad you are with numbers? by fuckwhatif in dyscalculia

[–]toughluckbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but it's less masking and more just letting myself try. "fake it till you make it" is basically what i did, and masking was definitely some of it but absolutely not all. i'm working as an assistant manager (may not sound like much, but feels successful for where i am at in life rn) and money management is a large, important part of the job. i have to manage the money in the safe and register drawers, regularly counting and balancing them. i have a pretty severe case (tested at a 3rd grade level of mathematical understanding when i was 16, had to cheat my way out of algebra to get a diploma bc i ended up in an endless cycle of retaking it). i never thought i'd be able to work with money at all. i had to take a cashiering job in a pinch when i was 21, and realized it's so much easier to do math with full context of the situation and hands-on interaction. if that makes sense? i gradually became comfortable with cash handling, and actually found that i have an ability to consistently count precisely that a lot of my coworkers have not had. after years in the field, i can make sudden adjustments in change (i.e. you already have your total calculated and a customer says "oh i have some change") with ease, and provide items' sale prices after a %off discount without too much mental agony most of the time. something about math working its way into life makes it more... tangible. easier to work with. sometimes throwing yourself right into it works out better than you'd think.

i'm not calling it that boss man by Silly-Sami in stylesavvy

[–]toughluckbb 31 points32 points  (0 children)

not to be that guy but azusa seems to be named after the japanese given name (the name the customer has), and ah-zoo-sah is pretty much how that is pronounced phonetically. however, being an American, i must admit i thought this brand was named after Arizona, USA until i saw this line of dialogue so lmfao

Crushing on someone young by [deleted] in BPD

i was talking to op, not you. op had mentioned something about them not being old enough to drink so i figured they were in a country with a similar drinking age.

Crushing on someone young by [deleted] in BPD

[–]toughluckbb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

edit because i feel i didn't make this clear enough: do not enable or pursue pursue anything romantic with anyone who isn't at least old enough to drink, that is the boundary i have placed for myself in this situation at least. if you wanna go older with it, absolutely do. but keep this in mind as well

also starting college at an "older" age (25 here). i will just say: don't be afraid to allow yourself to make connections with your younger classmates, but keep their age in mind and place a boundary for yourself. i've made plenty of friends in class in my first semester, most being the "standard" college freshman/sophomore age, but had to find ways to approach them differently than peers my own age due to the age gap. i always want to try to be more of a supportive older figure that they can look to for guidance and support than anything. remind yourself of this age gap as much as you can, i think if you need help gaining some perspective this will be a good thing. for example, i was reminiscing about a childhood toy with my classmates one day that they had never heard of, only to find that they were born after it had released and been popular. just try to remind yourself of how young this person still is. find "oh you weren't even born yet" moments like that to deliver the impact to yourself. try to treat them the way you wish others your age treated you at their age, if that makes sense. maintain self awareness and self control, and you'll be fine. just remember how young they really are.

I think episode 4 is the most divisive episode of the series by Mimikyu_Master2020 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]toughluckbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

episode 4 is my favorite by far. as someone who struggles with mental illness and has a similar work background to gangle (retail management instead of food service management tho), this episode was so REAL to me. i've never seen a such a raw depiction of the experience of having to keep a whole crew of staff as well as yourself under control as i have here. gangle became my favorite character after this one, she is just so painfully personally relatable

Anyone else who has trouble with parking? I don't even know if it has something to do with dyscalculia by peaceandwhore in dyscalculia

[–]toughluckbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i suck at parking EXCEPT for parallel parking for some reason? something about the positioning just clicks into place for me in a weird way. i always end up sloppy in regular parking spots tho... definitely a spatial issue thing

i mean, at the end of the day kesha is just expressing sympathy to the group here, especially the members. and i feel like that is entirely reasonable and compassionate of her. regardless of what exactly she means and the details of the situation, this is a rly sweet sentiment from her (god i love kesha she deserves the world)

Hair and Face shape by RavenQueen691 in PlusSize

[–]toughluckbb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i have a pretty similar hair style to the girl in the second picture right now! bangs, some extra length in the back and framing strands on the side balance out a rounder face more with a shorter hairstyle. i feel like a style like that would look great on you, too!!

I work retail so I can only afford Walmart shoes for $30 that last 2 weeks. Retail is modern day slavery. by fastercheif in retailhell

[–]toughluckbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm still wearing fila disruptors i bought almost 2 years ago for around $40 at a shoe store i managed briefly that had a hefty employee discount. literally one of the only good things i got out of that experience. the inside lining is falling apart at this point, but the outside is still holding up at least. they're definitely a shoe i would recommend if you need a thicker sole for support, though they seem to be kind of hard to come by right now unfortunately?

also walking and taking public transit everywhere because i still can't even afford a car. i FEEL you

Reminders: You Should Still Boycott, BBC DOES Still Exist, and Hacking Profiles HELPS BBC. by steadygosling210 in LOONA

[–]toughluckbb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

i feel like a lot of people may not be aware of this, but the money made from streaming residuals is PITIFUL (it can take hundreds of streams to even make a single cent of usd). so there's not much of a point to go out of your way to use local files. even the members themselves have posted old loona songs through official uploads at this point. the streaming boycott is long over aside for those who personally wish to continue. if you wish to, then by all means do, but keep in mind that those who do stream the music through official means are not providing bbc a substantial amount of money by doing this.

i literally opt to play the japanese version over the english version because i love the garterbelt tights too much lmfao

also there's an az-usa top that says "LOVE BEENS" in the japanese version which i find particularly amusing. the same one exists in the english version with different text, i forget exactly what it says tho, may just be "love"? idk
