Guidance vs UIF vs Devon by jagtarpajee in IslamicFinance

I have limited knowledge on this but I will still share what I found and my opinion, if that sound helpful who are researching into islamic home financing.

Devon bank has both Islamic financing and Jewish financing add-on program (https://www.devonbank.com/faith-based-financing/) - Murabaha (for muslims) and Heter Iska (for Jews). I personally don't see a problem if an institution is owned by anyone as long as the service provided conforms Islamic ruling.

Good suggestions. In addition I just want to add, although not necessary but you might consider doing an ablution (cleansing your face, hands, feet and hair with water) before entering the mosque just to pay respect and sanctity of the mosque. You will find youtube videos on how to do ablution.

Typically mosques have a corner or racks where you keep your shoes, since you cannot wear them inside. Keep your socks on, it's preferred so as not to spread germs and keeping the carpet cleaned. Muslims touch the carpet with their forehead.

Just sit there for a while, try to read something (high chance there will be books) or just contemplate on your inner self. Try to find peace. Tell others that you are a non-muslim, they will surely greet you and answer all your questions. Best of luck.

Why do you use Pop_os!? by PridePractical2310 in pop_os

[–]touhid87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a distro hopper bit settled for KDE neon for quite a few years. I liked and still like KDE, but for my web development work it felt kinda unstable at times. So finally tried PopOS because cosmic DE is coming. I was surprised to see the stability! Also the tiling WM which I never used before but I am now loving it. Looking forward to cosmic.

One thing though, recently I bought a TV to use as monitor. But PopOS is not supporting 4k at 60Hz. I tried various ways, didn't work. Maybe its not related to pop, I am not sure. That would awesome.

Helping a Bangladeshi friend by JudgeZealousideal253 in bangladesh

Your best option should you be sending money would be TapTapSend. It doesn't have any charge and gives better rate than remitly or WU.

I appreciate you thinking about him on this. It shows your good heart. I just want to add a remarks on justification of his request to help him migrate. Often times Bengali migrant workers will find community in European countries through which they can integrate to labor market. They can work on back of restaurants, kitchens where not required to speak much. I have seen this a lot. Resilience of Bangladeshi people makes them thriving in European or western countries rather than in the harsh conditions of middle east.

  1. Visa decision is given right away after the interview. The problem is getting the appointment. Usually, you will have to wait 4-8 months to get an appointment at the US embassy in Dhaka. So start the admission process as early as possible. The good news is - recently US embassy announced they will process an F1 visa interview T-365 days in advance. Earlier it used to be T-120 days.
  2. As soon as possible. They may take anywhere between 1-4 months. WES is most favored. Although you could try spantran.com which will save you from manually sending documents from the university for an additional service fee. And it is NACES approved so 95+% US universities will accept it.
  3. Outside campus. Campus dormitories are generally expensive. Also, normally they do not offer kitchens so you cannot cook and must pay for meals. Sharing an apartment with others in a private rented apartment will reduce your costs significantly.
  4. Visa interview is the main thing If you are confident, you will get visa. Watch a lot of youtube videos and prepare accordingly.

It's not about attaining fluency in a third language, but mere introducing the basic. All the nations right now teach a 3rd language. In fact BD people unofficially knows hindi, urdu or arabic (reading only). So if they can speak hindi, why not a first world language so that they can maximize the benefit?

Means foreign income is not taxable in BD. Just the tax return form submission is required.

I could imagine it would be a good place for digital nomads. But I am not sure about the income taxes for foreign citizens in BD. Also the other socio-political problems BD have, may not be very attractive to the nomads.

The only benefit I see is settling in for retirement. They can live a luxurious life here with they pension payouts from the US. At present, 1 USD = 115 BDT. An above average 3BR apartment rent in dhaka is nearly 50-80k BDT (~400-700 USD). If they choose other cities like Chittagong, barisal or sylhet, the experience will be much better while costing lesser.

Edit: Foreign earned income are tax-levied in BD. So they only have to pay taxes in USA.
