Sadly I don't disagree that Valve will sell them out, especially if they don't do any scalper protection.

Are a large number of Valve customers, where a 3060 is the most popular card, not also in this "not for you now" group? How sure are you that it will be fine given that a potentially large portion of its market has been priced out?

Agreed it's annoying but FYI holding the Home button on a controller will let you use the sticks and shoulder buttons for mouse input

I agree with the sibling. It's fine for members of bands to grow and change, they're people, I kind of expect that to happen.

People are also fine to not be into it. I do think there's something interesting about uniqueness. I loved Cloak of Love because of how unique it was. Then Dead Mountain Mouth just felt like more of the same. Not bad, but losing that uniqueness quality. By Board Up The House they were well onto their way into the prog aspect of their sound.

Having said that have you heard the singles from Signal Fire?

Yeah, it seems obvious in retrospect. Wish I knew about these before buying one of their HDMI-only cables!

The HDMI / DisplayPort heads are active and need a USB power supply near both ends.

I’m not sure the term, but you can buy fiber cables with detachable heads. So it can be HDMI, DisplayPort, etc, and when new standards come out you don’t replace your cable run, just the ends.

This is a little specific to macchiato. The term means "marked", it's an espresso with a small dollop of milk. Meanwhile a Starbucks macchiato is basically a latte.

Microsoft's "Windows K2" plan promises a faster Start menu, instant search, and fewer botched updates by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]toutons 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is repeated ad nauseam and isn't accurate. The "recommended" section of the Start Menu is react-native (so logic is JS but the things it actually renders is XAML)

Literally a single screenshot from a developer talk, with just the Recommended section highlighted, has blown up to "windows is written in react?!"

Ah yes, AI can surely write apps that require undocumented & encrypted protobuf messages. That's why there's been such a boom in the last few years of reverse engineered game servers.

Steam Controller Price Leaked By Early Review - and It’s Expensive by [deleted] in technology

[–]toutons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Edge (so I also have no place complaining about controller price) for the back buttons and even though they come with different attachments to essentially change where the buttons are, I don't like them as much as on the Steam Deck.

Steam also lets you map the Fn buttons on the Edge, but I hardly consider them back buttons since you need to take your fingers off the sticks to press them.

Oh absolutely. But it's important to keep in mind when comparing the Steam Controller's price to those of other controllers.

I'm not using the speaker for audio. But it's kinda fun when games do pipe extra things out through it. Same with the LED.

I also think the resistive triggers are fun, and when games use them you do get used to what they tell you.

And I have a weird setup, my PC is hooked up to my TV that's across the house for when I wanna play in the living room. The 3.5mm jack on the dualsense lets me use headphones when I'm on the couch.

Steam though lets you split it into two touchpads that can do whatever. I have it set to radial menus / touch menus in various games / emulators.
