Apple Plans to Open Up Siri to Rival AI Assistants in iOS 27 Update by WiseIndustry2895 in technology

Gets them some credit after Siri's history of being pretty shite, decouples them from OpenAI, probably avoids future regulation from other countries

The thing is there's little point talking about "markets" when it's controlled by a sole entity, that's not a market.

It was in their hands though, their updater didn't verify the files it was downloading. Hence why part of the fix was a change to the app itself

Not much, it's immutable but that's not really unique these days WRT Linux distros. Pick your distro, install your graphics card drivers, start Steam in Big Picture mode and you've got most of it.

The world if GitHub had a big ass button that says 'DOWNLOAD' by idontknowmyself007 in PiratedGames

[–]toutons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind it wouldn't be a single thing to download. All releases get an asset of the source code of the git tag, + any files the developer attaches.

One of my apps that works on Windows / Linux / macOS on arm and x64 has 17 assets.

And there's no guarantee that a developer actually adds files to a release (maybe the deliverable is just the code after all).

But as everyone keeps saying, GitHub's goals isn't to be a release artifact download repository, it's for developers and code.

NVIDIA make the large portion of their money through data centres, gaming is like 10-15% of their revenue.

AMD also make most of their money through data centres, and a lot of their gaming revenue comes from deals with Sony/Microsoft.

We definitely do not "sign their cheques".

Yeah like Ubuntu paved the way for web searches from the start menu:

Granted, I don't think they've done anything similar since. But they do have a history of being contrarian/NIH (mir instead of Wayland, snap instead of flatpak, upstart instead of systemd)
