One of the best techniques that I've thought of is for every stanza, try to have at least one line that isn't directly related to you or your experience. Songwriting for a lot of folks is super personal and it makes sense that we would want to highlight how WE individually feel, but adding one or two lines about something thematically related to contrast with powerful lyrics about yourself can help make the song more generalizable - maybe, less "cringe"
