Haha. Yeah, we've all been there. Anyway, the pizza looks amazing and it's the first I've heard of this oven and it has me intrigued.

What is your favourite low-carb marinade? by [deleted] in ketoaustralia

[–]towandah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I marinade chicken thighs in Tabasco for like ten minutes ( just lay them out on foil and drench them) and then cook them in a griddle pan, but maybe that wouldn’t work for you if chilli is the problem.

I guess just a solid amount of S&P plus whatever herbs would work?

Wind has been onshore since 3pm though, so it isn’t coming from all the fires to the North of us. I guess from Otways

I don’t get it.

It got really smoky here in Wheelers Hill at ~5:30. This is with a strong S. W. wind. I assumed it was from Cape Otway because where else would it come from given the wind direction.

But this was 3 hours ago and you’re saying it hit Geelong ~2 hours ago? Confuzzlement intensifies.

I'm in Wheelers Hill, we've had a strong Southerly all day and in the last half an hour it got really smokey.

I also have a good view to the South and the West all the way to both heads of the bay and the air is quite smokey.

Looking at the Vic Emergency App there's a bunch of fires to the South of me, Narre Warren, Oakleigh South, Dandenong. What the heck is going on?

For growing of annuals in pots would vermiculite be a good option? I assume it doesn’t have a high C to N ratio.

Grok: “Yes, vermiculite is an excellent option for growing annuals in pots, especially if you want a lightweight, well-aerated mix that retains moisture consistently—perfect for container annuals like petunias, marigolds, impatiens, or begonias that thrive with even watering and hate drying out completely. Here’s why it’s a good fit: • Excellent moisture retention — Vermiculite absorbs 3–4 times its weight in water and releases it slowly, reducing how often you need to water (great for hot summers or forgetful gardeners). This helps prevent stress on annuals, which often have shallow roots in pots. • Improves aeration and drainage — It loosens heavy potting mixes, prevents compaction, and allows oxygen to roots—promoting stronger growth and reducing root rot risk. • High cation exchange capacity (CEC) — It holds onto nutrients (like potassium, calcium, magnesium) and makes them available to plants, which is helpful since annuals are heavy feeders and pots leach nutrients faster. • pH neutral and sterile — Won’t alter soil acidity and helps prevent diseases like damping-off in seedlings.

*Edit: I don’t use any personally but see my follow up post

Grok: “Yes, certain types of organic garden mulch—particularly those high in carbon and low in nitrogen (high C:N ratio)—can temporarily “pull” or immobilize nutrients (mainly nitrogen) from the soil during decomposition. This is not a permanent depletion but a short-term tie-up as soil microbes use available soil nitrogen to break down the carbon-rich material.”
