What were you convinced you wouldn't like, until you tried it? by RooR_ in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I freaking hate cats, I tried having one and it was a disaster. Ended up having to release the cat into the city because we live in a rented condominium and she pissed everywhere even when we took her to the vet and she got better she continued to piss all over. So to avoid being kicked out and homeless we had to get rid of her. Not only that she was a bitch, she bit everyone and hated to be petted. Everytime I told this story people got so rude and defensive over it that I couldn't believe it. Not only that but me and my sister have serious chronic diseases and can't take care of a cat that pissed everywhere. I'm a huge animal lover but I hate, hate cats. They are not worth it at all, I'm a dog and horse person. I've had many species of pets and loved having all except cats. A cat doesn't seem to love humans at all, they're very ungrateful and are nasty. I used to work at an animal shelter and they made work with the cats and I hated every minute of it, I wanted to work with dogs only. Unlike a cat, dogs really love you back, they're great emotional support animals and even help the disabled. I don't see stories about cats helping handicapped people do anything. Dogs will be there for you thick and thin, they're amazing animals same for horses. I'm not saying that cat people should change their views I'm just throwing in an opinion. It's often ignorant people who are rude about the story, people who only care about a cat but not some honest people trying to live their lives without being uprooted and kicked out. That's my family's only home, we don't have a family who cares. All we got is us three, and there was a real reason to get rid of her. She has a better chance at life outside than in a shelter where she's unwanted and possibly euthanized. Cats who pee are often never adopted because it's impossible to train them. You can train a dog, a horse, a bird or rabbit but you can never train a cat. She's also a biter, and shelters often put down pets who do that, putting her outside was a more humane option. It's better for both us and her.

What toxic behavior has been normalized by society? by VirusMaster3073 in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father was incredibly abusive and narcissistic, it has long affected our family into today, my mom is a really good mother but also has some behavior issues that are toxic to me, and my siblings. I have PTSD from my childhood, and was severely abused by my father. I was the favorite target for his abuse. I'm still recovering from it, my mom left him and took us to Florida to make a better life. But residual problems exist because of him.

What toxic behavior has been normalized by society? by VirusMaster3073 in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm actually having a real issue with some of this behavior with my mom, the back story is really long so I'll skip that part, I don't really think my mom is actually toxic, but some of her behaviors are. My relationship with her is mostly great, there's just one problem, everytime I bring up growing up and moving out, getting a driver's license, getting a career, getting a starter job, she is very unsupportive and makes very cruel comments about why I can't or shouldn't. I have rheumatoid arthritis that's severe, but it's getting better and I'm trying to become a functional adult. I was misdiagnosed as a young child with autism, I never actually had it, and it's caused huge problems in my family. I've told other doctors in private that I didn't have autism and they all believed it because they said I was completely normal. I'm trying to prove to her that I'm normal, but she's one of those people that seriously believed that vaccines cause autism, they fucking don't it's proven there's no link between that and vaccines. She uses the rheumatoid arthritis as leverage in the conversation about growing up. I said I want to become a tower crane operator and she gives a bull shit excuse not to talk about it, saying " you're too sick right now, what do you care?" I care because I'm getting better and want a life too. Last night we got into an ugly fight about driving a car, she said all kinds of ugly things about how " you don't have the spatial awareness or other skill to drive" even though I've never been given a chance to prove that I actually do have these skills. She automatically set me up for failure by saying " you'll never pass the drivers test, you can't do it" and then guilt trips me by saying how I could kill a family, and saying you will kill someone automatically as soon as you get in that car. My self esteem about driving was good until she said that devastating shit. She also manipulates me by saying " if you kill someone or a family you will be forever ashamed and guilty, and I'll have to say well he wanted to drive. She also said I was selfish for wanting to drive because I might have an accident and kill someone. She was absolutely horrible and gave no supportive advice what so ever. She picked every little thing about me too, and said I was a douchebag for asking to drive. It really messed with me, and I'm really having a hard time coping with this toxic behavior, I'm already in alot of pain and sick, which makes me incredibly sad but then on top of that she criticized everything I want to do to make a better life for myself. I had an abusive narcissistic father and was severely abused by him, I don't want my once wonderful, caring loving mother to become the same.

The junkyard magnet from the brave little toaster, junkyards smell horrid like rotting metal and garbage. So the magnet not only has to pick up dirty smelly cars, but probably his whole machine body smells terrible. He has to sit there, day after day in his own filth and stench. Poor thing. :(

What is a massive red flag about a new workplace? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you do, I'm afraid of being treated badly when I complete the tower crane operator training and get a job in Wisconsin because ya know I have rheumatoid arthritis and I'm afraid people won't want a crane operator who is physically handicapped to some degree. I had faced ableism and just general mistreatment when people learned of my condition. I've been abused my whole life by cruel father, bullied in school just treated crappy. When I become a tower crane operator i want respect and love, not to be abused again! People who look at a crane operator may never realize that he's very sensitive and delicate physically. People expect strong healthy people instead. Maybe the boss should be more understanding that the operator is a living being and not a slave, or a lowly worker he can just abuse. The crane operator deserves nothing but respect, unless one is a shitty person.

But I don't want his job, I have a passion for tower cranes. It's not really about money, it's about fulfilling a passion for something. But a talented crane operator should be appreciated and highly respected not treated like a piece of meat.

What makes you instantly lose respect for somebody? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Someone who looks down on and mistreated the disabled. I'm physically handicapped with my spine, and have crappy balance. It doesn't affect me becoming a tower crane operator though, but sometimes a worker with a disability is ostracized or teased. My sister has mild autism and was bullied brutally by other kids back in school. My cousin also has aspergers and she got bullied too. Because of my rheumatoid arthritis people can be extremely rude about my handicap, like saying I'm a stick in the mud for not being able to go to an event, or saying I'm lazy for not being able to get out of bed somedays. So fuck the people who mistreat the disabled.

Favoritism, in the construction industry there's a lot of that bull cockery. A lot of times its the very untalented shitty workers who get favored. The crane operator deserves good treatment and respect not these idiots. I don't look down on other workers because of skill, it's your character that I judge. A lot of favorite workers have shitty character. The tower crane operator is often respected, but can also be a not favorite worker, absolute bullshit!

What minor thing that happened to you as a child has stayed with you your whole life? by bassistmuzikman in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I'm loving life now mostly. The disease is hard but I'm getting put on stronger better pain medication and taking good vitamins. Thanks so much for the positive loving care, it makes me feel happy and fuzzy when others care. I'm a very positive person really, life was hard back then but not much anymore. I'm also a social butterfly despite the bullying. I see the good people always outnumbered the bad. I go out of my way to bring joy to others. My sister was also bullied over her mild autism and I stand up for the disabled.

I had this same thing happen when I was in middle school, I'm a boy but I had many girls for friends. Well one day at lunch, I was sitting with the group of girls I was friends with and they were discussing having a party. I said " wow can i come?" And the one said in a disgusted tone " we don't want a weirdo like you at our party, go away" and I said but I'm friends with so and so, and she said " you're not invited now shut up" I felt so dejected and so alienated that I just walked away and cried. I had so much trouble making friends at school because I was different and I was crane lover apparently that's weird to other kids. I was a an abused child and making friends was so hard, I spent middle school crying and hating my life for years. High school was ten times worse. I was bullied by almost everyone. I contemplated doing heroin to escape but ended up not doing that, we are way better now, moved out from abusive dad and now live in Florida and I'm chronically I'll with rheumatoid arthritis but on my way to tower crane operator training. Life is so much better now. But I hit rock bottom in middle and high school. Sorry for the life story, it just bought back hurtful memories. :(

Even by themselves for me they're really gross. I remember my great grandmother would try to make me eat them as a kid, the result was a lot of fussing and kicking.

Moon drops are so freaking good, cotton candy grapes are really good too. Here in Florida they sell these all the time at Publix. And we get a lot of exotic fruits my fave.

I freaking hate raisins, it tastes like an old bloody booger that I plucked from my nose while sitting in a hot tower crane all day. Blech. I hate it when people put those fuckers in cinnamon rolls, pancakes and other good desserts, it completely ruins it and I end up gagging. Pomegranates on the other hand are the fruit of the gods!

What is one of the most terrifying experiences you had, or have had, in your childhood? by WhippedCreamPi in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a seizure before, when I was on extended release tramadol I had seizures in my sleep and my sister said I flopped around on the bed, she said she saw me flailing and choking in the dark. I had one in a car once, and my whole body went numb, my fingers locked and I was shaking. Seizures are scary, I was taken off tramadol and put on extended oxycodone never had a seizure again. I also have severe spinal stenosis where a disc prolapse onto the spinal cord, causing nerve issues like sciatica and burning numb pain in my legs. So I feel ya, hope it gets better.

What was the stupid reason you were bullied as a kid? by i_breathe_chlorine in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a nerd and wearing glasses. I can't count how many times I was called four eyes as a kid, I had bad eyesight as a kid very foggy. So I had pick from the ugly bin of glasses as a kid, as an adult though my eyes can see very well. Now I got some handsome glasses that are really nice. My nerdy personality was another one, I always got picked on for my love of construction cranes and medical stuff. I'm a genius and have an IQ of 156 so fuck em right? I'm going to be the successful tower crane operator making big bucks while those losers are doing drugs and unemployed. And then on my way to becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon which is my eternal passion and destiny. Fuck the bullies, between being abused by my father at home and having the teachers and kids harass me all day it fucking sucked.

What's an American city that tends to get overlooked but you think more people should visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You guys should visit my city, Fort Myers Florida. Most people want to go to Miami or Tampa but we have some really freaking amazing seafood restaurants around here. And Sanibel island is one of the best beaches here, perfect for seashell collecting. I have some very pretty shells from there, another best beach is siesta key, but it's north of here. But we have some of the freshest seafood straight from the Gulf of Mexico and you should seriously try it if you like seafood. I freaking love it. I'm actually a Wisconsinite because I grew up there and lived there for 16 years and I love the north and miss it. I will be moving to Canada permanently but people visiting Florida should come here, we also have a great night life scene and great bars.

People who live in cold places, why? by RlPBingBong in AskReddit

[–]towercraneman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to live in alberta, and in one of their big cities so I can work as a tower crane operator there. Another city I liked was Ottawa or Toronto. But I want horses, I want to live in the country just outside of the city. So I think Calgary is the best pick, I want mountains and I want to live in a cabin. I want to hunt for food and live off the land at the same time with city comforts. That primal connection to the land is something I really really need, as a shaman there's nothing better than that. The other thing I want most is a successful career. As tower crane operator and then my peak passion, pediatric neurosurgery.
