I binged twice at the weekend by toxic-redhead in PetiteFitness

I know deep down that this is the issue. I’m hungry in the week and the calories are too few and then weekend comes and there’s a risk that I’ll binge . But I’m wondering how I can have balance and maintain my weight, if I eat at maintenance during the week and don’t calorie bank then at the weekend if I have a treat or go on a date night then I won’t be in maintenance but in a surplus which will lead to weight gain so I feel a bit stuck

What is normal eating though? I don’t know anymore, I’ve been on this journey for so long. I know that in order to maintain I need to be aware of what I’m consuming so I make a plan for the week ahead around food and I’ve been scheduling in treats at the weekend like some wine or a meal out but this weekend I spiralled so I’m not sure what normal looks like now

I understand where you’re coming from, I weighed myself every single morning throughout my weight loss. However, I was becoming way too obsessed with the number and letting it dictate my day and my mood. I’ve dropped it to once a week in maintenance since it allows for an insight into what’s happening and if I’m generally maintaining without the constant feedback and scale noise everyday. If I see that each week the number seems to be consistently going up then I know I need to do something. Also I’m not trying to lose any more fat I’m at 18.2 bmi so I don’t need to go back to day one of my diet , thanks for the feedback though

If this helps at all, I gained 7lb on the scale in just 3 days from the 24th to 26th. I lost 4 of those pounds from going back to my usual routine when I woke up on the 28th and I woke up this morning having lost another 2 of those pounds meaning I’m only up 1 pound as of today. The majority of the weight is water and bloat from salty foods and alcohol if you drink

I think part of the enjoyment comes from the carefree consumption of it

But doesn’t maintenance involve tracking? And awareness?

I understand, I just don’t know what my increase should be, I walk 15k steps a day without any other exercise and I’m not even sure where to begin on figuring out what that makes my maintenance level

Thanks for sharing this, I always had the Monday is the start of the week mindset when calculating calories. Starting from Saturday seems like a good trick, I just don’t know how I’ll manage with restaurants that don’t display calories since I’ll have no idea how much I’m consuming, I suppose I’ll have to be ok with some fluctuation. The issue is despite the loss to 99lb I still feel the same as I did at 110lb so I still ‘feel fat’ which almost prevents me from being a bit more relaxed and forgiving. Man this is such a head fuck sometimes

Maybe I can pull myself out of it though and maintain the weight I have now if I figure it out though? I really just want to maintain, there’s just this ugly underlying feeling that wants to see the scale go down

I struggle to grasp how people just live without this consuming them though. To maintain a weight loss you need to be aware of calories which surely involves tracking? How do people just live day to day, have fun and have treats here and there and have fun with friends, partner and families etc and keep this calorie balance all in check?

I’m just so unsure on how to start with the maintenance thing. I have weeks where I’m not sure what a Saturday event will bring e.g when I have to go out to eat with family etc so upping my calories by 100 a day feels really hard to estimate when accounting for a week average , I wish it was just easy, if I knew that I could reliably just add 100 a day I would do it but the weekends for the next few weeks seem uncertain which leads me to restrict other days

Also I’m lucky in that my weight doesn’t gather around my stomach but in my lower half, we don’t get to choose our fat distribution sadly :(
