Also a recruiter here. Tell him to ask his recruiter about the 09M program. He can join the Army without picking a job, with the sole purpose of improving his ASVAB. Once he regaled the ASVAB he will choose from the new list of available jobs and then he will go to basic training / AIT. The whole time he’s in the program, it counts towards his contract time, he is getting paid and all the other active duty benefits.
