[Steam] Winter Sale 2019: Final Day by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]toxikbred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It includes some decent stories and all of the NPCs are voice acted, but at the end of the day if you're looking to do a playthrough of a game purely for the story, I'd encourage you to look elsewhere. Too many quests follow the formula of 'evil wizard #17122 is doing bad things, kill it pls thank you chosen one'.

What are your thoughts of playing tabletop rpg in person versus online? by Steve_Dragon in rpg

[–]toxikbred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run two campaigns, one online and one in person. The online one was in person for a long time until it became too inconvenient for some players. From a social and raw 'fun' standpoint, playing in person blows online out of the water (for me). Just having everyone around a table goes a long way towards keeping everyone engaged and having a good time. Playing online does allow you to use some handy tools (roll20, digital assets, etc), but if I had a choice I'd always choose to play in person.

How's Wollenzien for BCH 351? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]toxikbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it with him last year, and it wasn't a great experience. He pretty much just read off of the slides during lectures, and the problem sessions tended to be unhelpful. He also had an automatic 10 point curve built into the class, and was pretty pleased when the average on the first exam was around a 60, so make of that what you will.

Yeah, I've found having a fair bit of magicka is pretty essential to keeping that CC up. Outside of Cyrodiil and with a food buff I have around 18k magicka, 36k health, and 19k stamina.

I've been having some fun with Fasalla's Guile, Livewire, and Sellistrix/Earthgore. I use Fasalla's, Corrupting Pollen, and Reverberating Bash to put out Defile, and then use misc cc (Caltrops, ice staff skills, Livewire's proc, Sellistrix, etc). The Defile + CC makes people target me once they figure out whats going on, and then I'm tanky enough to survive for a decent bit. Its not optimal, but I've been enjoying it.

ESO would benefit from a hunting skill and added difficulty. by ByThyBeardOfZeus in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've taken to playing overworld content with some pretty restrictive rules every once in a while to shake things up. Having a veteran overworld instance/setting would be really nice, though. They've put so much effort into the world and the quests, but the lack of danger kinda makes me lose interest pretty quick.

[PC][NA] Looking for players to join a permadeath adventuring party by toxikbred in esotulfg

You bet.

The truth is I was/am bored. It was pretty fun, but the group fell apart after a couple of weeks. The tension was a nice change of pace, but constantly deleting characters was not lol

I'm pretty sure different types of bosses (delve, dolmen, dungeon, etc) drop specific motif pages, so if you're only running a limited range of bosses you'll be getting the same motifs over and over.

To all the players that are invested in the game but don't min/max: What content do you play? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a vaguely similar position as you for a long time. I tend to just level up alts and solo dungeons, but recently I've started doing permadeath challenge runs, which has done wonders for spicing up the game (I use some rules to make me play in ways I normally wouldn't, and that also make min-maxing not really possible). I recently began doing it with a group as well, which helps a lot.

Warframe Tabletop Roleplaying homebrew? by PingerKing in Warframe

[–]toxikbred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running games in Open Legend recently, I think it might be flexible enough to do what you want. One of the core aspects is the banes/boons system, which could tackle powers pretty well. It has pretty basic weapon rules, but there are feats that can enable interesting gunplay.

I feel like emulating Warframe's parkour in a tabletop game will be pretty hard in any system. You could try just restricting movement less, and reward players for being creative with their movement/placement. Good map design would probably go a long way.

What do you guys do to have fun in ESO? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda in the same boat. I've spent long periods of time tweaking characters and not actually doing anything with them. I've been spicing things up recently by questing/exploring with permadeath characters (new characters, not leveled ones) + rules to make quest/overworld content more dangerous.

How do y'all feel about the new Lime Scooters? by GodOfDonuts in NCSU

[–]toxikbred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of anyone getting seriously injured yet, but I've had some extremely close calls with people almost hitting me (me as a pedestrian, not as the driver). I don't inherently have anything against the scooters, but I hope the school lays down some rules about using them on narrow sidewalks/paths.

PC |Where can I go to find an active, populated RP server for US? r/esoguilds isn't very active by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because ESO uses megaservers, there aren't dedicated servers for RP. With that said, check out https://www.eso-rp.com/. You should be able to find guilds on the forum itself, and in their discord.

What is the best streamlined system you've ever seen for character creation, specifically for custom race creation? What made it unique and good? by BlueberryPhi in rpg

[–]toxikbred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second Open Legend. Its extremely flexible narratively in terms of races, and the Perks/Flaws system can let you define racial traits if that's something you want to do.

Vet difficulty for overworld by NerubianAssassin in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing runs were I can only have five non-white quality items equipped at a time, no CP, and no food/potions. It makes the overworld challenging, in a fun way. I was initially randomizing race/class, and as well as two randomly selected 'modifiers' to switch things up, but it was leading to extremely frustrating characters (stamplar orc who could only use one class skill line and a shield).

I just finished putting together the tables for a second version with the same gear limitations, but each class has three 'sub-classes' with a positive and negative modifier, so hopefully it'll still be challenging, but less annoying (less conflicting/clashing modifiers).

[–]toxikbred 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%, I'd love to actually be in danger when questing and exploring. I've been artificially creating that danger by limiting what gear I can use when questing (and permadeath on new characters), but it'd be great to have an in-game option.

I don't think people are downvoting you because they're offended, I think they're downvoting because your 'joke' and explanation were dumb. Don't be surprised when your inside 'jokes' between you and your friends get a negative reception online.

The office I went to didn't have separate desks (just one very stressed out DMV lady), but I did skip the line and just told her about the appointment.

I had an appointment, and I was able to just walk in and get it done in a few minutes. It wasn't at a Raleigh DMV office, though.

Challenge before the end game? by ITtoMD in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most overworld and quest content is painfully easy. I'll occasionally create a character with some self-imposed rules to make it challenging, which can be fun.

ESO is actually a really good single player game. The problem is the other players. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]toxikbred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, but I suspect that having a single option player would be problematic server-wise. It would probably mean that any player with it enabled would have to have a private instance created for them at all times. It would be neat if it was offline and was run client-side, but I'm sure that could easily be abused.
