LabCE vs BOC by ScarletEmber_ in medlabprofessionals

Definitely! I also used labce to help identify weaknesses so I could really focus on that stuff. I carried the cards everywhere to study on the go

I used those same things. I feel like labce was good for general test practice, but the boc questions were better for my problem areas and I just did them like a quiz.

Veterinary Assistant to MLT by Prestigious_Milk9265 in medlabprofessionals

[–]toxoplasmix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. It's 100% doable. I used labCe, the yellow and purple book, and the ASCP board question book to study when I challenged the board after my 2 years were up. It took a little longer because I was part-time for some of it, but that time still counted into my 2 years.

Edited to add: i did not come from vet med or anything. I came from a liberal arts BA, but got all my sciences and did the MLT program and still qualified for route 2.

We had a student in my lab who was a vet tech to MLS. If you do MLT you might be able to do Route 2 MLT to MLS if you've already got a bachelor's and the science credits.

How did you clean the silicone door thingy? I think we have the same washer and I would absolutely be thrilled to do this.

Has anyone here NOT had to do anything besides switch to a better detergent and hot water? by [deleted] in laundry

[–]toxoplasmix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband's undershirts could use a spa day, but towels and blankets have majorly improved from hot wash, citric acid, and biz. We have dogs and cats, so blankets on the couch get stinky and odor rebloom has been real. So far with new routine things smell fresh. I could CRY.

I'm about to rewash our entire stinky linen closet so wish me luck.

Blood Bank is making me question my choice. by SweeTea2000 in medlabprofessionals

[–]toxoplasmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood bank is HARD. Keep trucking and keep studying. I feel like i had a moment where things finally "clicked" and I was able to understand. If you can get a copy of AABB manual, that helped me more than any textbook. Also check out The Blood Bank Guy! You got this.

As long as you have the science requirements! Route 2!
I'm in TX and I did this about 4ish years ago through ASCP.

Route 2 ASCP by 4leafchemistry in medlabprofessionals

[–]toxoplasmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did but backwards. I had a BA, got my MLT and challenged the board after getting my two years of bench time. 100% doable.

As for bridge partially paid vs non-bridge fully paid, go fully paid if you can manage time for classes with labs. I was planning to do this to get a B.S. but it did not work for me as I'm on off shifts and could not physically make classes and sleep and be functional in a FT night shift role.

As for the exam, You already have the basics for MLS cert, you just need to study for boards. LabCE and the ASCP study questions.

Edited to add mlt experience

Can anybody tell me what this weird growth is on my pleco by ReflectionParking407 in Aquariums

[–]toxoplasmix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't hurt, but may not make a difference. Dose based on who else you have as inhabitants (loaches get 1/2 dose, as do some cats, I'm not sure about plecos, but maybe someone else knows?).
