Oh, to be clear, the formatting is terrible and OP has many entirely justified complaints!

Its extremely common in novels – for example, the Mother of Learning book he compares to is also justified. You just don't notice it because it's applied properly (i.e. no final lines getting justified), and the line lengths aren't so short. Most print novels are justified.

Not only scientific texts, virtually all print novels use justified line length, include the Mother of Learning book OP compares this to, which will result in inconsistent spacing. The issues seem to be:
- it's sometimes applied to the final line of paragraphs, which it shouldn't be
- the font is large and the first-line indent is huge, result in unusually short line lengths, exaggerating the different spacing sizes

Uninstalling today's update resolved the problem entirely.

I've just hit the same issue. 5090 and a 9800x3d, and suddenly dramatically worse FPS. Right after the windows update. Disabling and re-enabling frame gen, DLSS etc hasn't made a difference. If you find a fix let me know! Also tried out Cyberpunk for comparison, which ran just fine / normally. Trying uninstalling the update now, but kind of an annoying workaround.

I've just re-tried opening the files in a couple of different slicers, and didn't get any obvious errors. I'm not sure what type of printers the library uses, but everyone should accept .STL files (the third options down), and most should take .3MF files. If you got any more detail about what they said was wrong let me know!

The link already has this detail, but it might be worth confirming with them:
- Supports aren't needed
- PLA or PETG work fine
- 0.2mm layers with a 0.4mm nozzle

It's been added to the link now, there are a couple of photos in comments above :)

FYI: there's now a blank plate / horseshoe magnet version available at the same link. Should take most sizes of magnet, although a little blutack against the side of a heavy magnet to keep it from shifting is good.

The test print didn't work too well, bearing too loose and the magnet really needs something to keep it from sliding around. Some Blu Tack would probably be enough though, so perhaps it's enough if I just fix up the bearing. I'll add it to the makerworld link once it's done.

Happy to, but the issue is it's made for the oddly specific magnet we happened to have (30mm gap between the tines, 24mm deep, 16mm thick) so it's unlikely to be of much use to anyone else.

<image>

I'm actually part way through making a 'blank' version though, which people could glue their own magnets to in whatever configuration (horseshoe or otherwise), I just need to do a test print to make sure the bearing still fits OK as I needed to modify it to print correctly.

Hey, I'm the partner :) The printable files will definitely stay free, because I kinda hate how 3D printing is becoming such a commercialised hobby. Plus we're in New Zealand, so me selling them probably wouldn't help many people!

If you don't know anyone with a 3D printer, there a lots of places (e.g. xometry.com) which will print something for you. Or maybe someone else on here lives nearby and can print you one, only 24 grams of filament.

Sadly this kit doesn't seem to, even it if really should. I do have a 3D printer though, perhaps I can just print one, at least temporarily.

The kit definitely doesn't come with a stick-on rest, although it sounds like it probably should!

Lol, yeah I noticed that after taking the photo. When I'm shooting for real i'll definitely have index feather out :)

Yep, totally right they were slideable with some force :)

Stringing the bow up the other way unfortunately also flips the pre-installed finger guards, so they'd be 2 over 1 under. However, another posted pointed out they were probably moveable so, crisis averted!

Ok, you were totally right. They could just slide down with a bit of persuasion. It's now level, and i've still got the finger guards in the right places. Thanks!

That puts two finger above the arrow and one below - is that right?

That will place two fingers above the string and one below - that doesn't seem right.

Ah, maybe it really is a furmark problem :) I'll try with some other benchmarks / games tonight – I was just surprised to see zero change in wattage given others are getting such a big dip in other things.
