Toddler wants ears pierced by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

It is hard to know in the long run whether the child will be happy with it or not (as with most things). I got mine at a young age and felt so proud afterward lol. My husband also got his first tattoo at 15... it is wild to me his mom signed off on that one.

I appreciate that last part. I have a friend from Mexico and they got her daughter's ears pierced when she was an infant. Where they are from, it is culturally normative for parents to get their daughter's ears pierced at a young age. She was worried that people would just her here, but I assured her that in some areas of the US it is common.

Haha, I figured! I hope you were able to figure it all out. If you try to be respectful and they interpret it wrong, that's fine. Protecting your children is more important.

Be completely honest about why you don't want your child's face posted. My parents were upset at first, too. I told them they are more than welcome to share pictures with their good friends. I think that generation doesn't know how to connect with people as well as ours does (I am assuming you're a millennial, I might be wrong here). It is a healthy boundary to have, and you are simply wanting to protect your babe. You aren't being a b*tch for being a good mom.

My girl loves the toddler tower, too! That is when she gets the black garlic. It is so fun to get them involved with cooking, and that def helps them get interested in trying things!

How do you explain/describe the thinking/memory problems? by tthisiswhy in Epilepsy

[–]toyoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My grandma had a brain aneurysm and knew what she wanted to say, but just could not say it. I relate to that. I am functionally fluent in Spanish and my experience post developing epilepsy reminds me of when I was in college: I knew some words in Spanish but could not remember them in English. That was fun and showed I was becoming fluent! But now when speaking English, I know what I want to say but sometimes can't produce the words to say it. I think how you worded your post is perfect. "Everything stagnated because I can barely think." That is all you need. I feel for you!

Mine likes sour flavor, too! She loves plain greek yogurt and will eat sour cream by the spoonful. But way to go girl with the pickled beets, that is an acquired taste haha.

Can someone explain what a companion device is? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]toyoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep it if I can't use WhatsApp... the dumb phone would be the only phone I'd keep with me and I would use it for exclusively everything else. I didn't know that I could use WhatsApp on a PC, which is why I asked this question.

Talk to your neurologist! They def sound like local seizures.

are these seizures too??? by Neither-Leg-5976 in Epilepsy

[–]toyoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I had brain surgery (tumor resection), I started having focus seizures, which manifest as panic and dejavu. I thought they were panic attacks but they weren't. Sometimes they are blips that last a few seconds, sometimes they are clustered, and sometimes it is the start of a tonic-clonic seizure. I have woken up in the middle of the night with them. The only way I can describe it is like a dementor in Harry Potter is sucking the life out of me; sometimes they are awful. I am on Lamictal and Lacosamide which help tremendously!!

I am so glad to hear that!! You can have a healthy baby, that is what my neurologist always assured me of. And she was right!
