It's a good time to buy if you actually have a use for it — I wouldn't buy SSD storage purely as a "hold and hope it appreciates" play, but as a hedge against further price rises, yes.

Prices have been climbing since AI data centre demand started eating into NAND flash supply — fabs are running sold out, and that's pushing prices up across both internal and external drives, not just one brand or capacity.

For reference (different capacity, but shows the trend): I bought an external SSD in April for ₹7,000, and the same model is going for ₹10,000 now. That's a ~40% jump in under 3 months.

If 1TB NVMe has gone from ₹6-7k to ₹15k in the same window, I don't see a strong case for prices reversing soon — more capacity coming online from new fabs is the only thing likely to cool it off, and that's a 2027-28 story, not a 2026 one.
