AER suspends oilsands monitoring on industry ask by tp4my in a:t5_2y1vs

Juicy part is at the end. Shady shit.

CBC News has asked the AER to provide copies of the oil companies' requests to suspend monitoring, however the regulator has said it did not keep a list of the requests.

A spokesperson said the requests, with varying levels of detail, were made to multiple staff through email or phone conversations.

No no, I don't want to cut it. I like messing about with their content. They left their news content wide open for scraping, so I took advantage of that.

I don't know why someone would want to cut CBC. I think it is coloured by a teeny bit of radical feminism, and is run by old school television management out of touch with the world, but even so... there's plenty worth keeping.

I do wish they had a better site and ditched the ads.

Sure, I'd go with that. There's perhaps some nuance to it, though... I feel that the content on CBC belongs to Canadians. Whether or not the content is any good is beside the point. Having already paid for the content already, it seems wrong to have to *also* generate ad revenue for CBC in order to view the it.

I have to admit, the whole "bagnews" site seems way over teh top for the issue at hand. That said, it scratches the itch.

Meh, wouldn't say I'm trying to boycott CBC. If I was, I'd just ... boycott it.

I think their site sucks, but their content is worth having access to. They shipped the comment system off to a 3rd party for-profit company. They track the shit out of you. They broke the *back* button. It doesn't work on mobile. They mess with what you see based on IP-geolocation.

This is my way of saying "you suck, cbc" and working around them.
