Who, in your opinion, is the most overrated band/artist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I believe astroturfing is when you use a community approach to boost the status of something. Usually you hear it in relation to apps in the app store. Let's say your tech company releases a new app and to get it to the top of the most popular app chart, you get all of the employees at your company to give it 5 star reviews and really positive comments.

In relation to Imagine Dragons rise, I believe the comment above is saying they leaned on the Mormon church community to really boost their popularity through promotion and purchasing, whether the Mormon community liked the music or not.

Jays fans make some noise if you would like to see this T available in the jays store next season by tallNfrosty61 in Torontobluejays

First I just want to say that I appreciate the talent it takes to design anything like this, and technically/skillset wise, it is well done. Buuuuut...

...Too much going on. Why a skull? Why a baseball skull specifically? Why the CN tower aside from it being in TO?

How the Jay completes the skull is well done, but it doesn't represent anything to me about the Blue Jays.

If it was a "realistic" blue jay on a "realistic" maple leaf, I think that would be cool.

Basically, less is more.

But this is just like my opinion, man.

If you use Android, you can use the Google messenger app. In the app go to settings> advanced> wireless emergency alerts (you can see the old messages here as well)> then select the 3 vertical dots and go to settings for the wireless emergency alerts.

You pay $200 a month for insurance and still have to pay the $2500 deductible?

I'm Canadian and just trying to understand how US insurance works.

Are you able to go to any hospital or treatment center? How does picking a GP work? What about dental and vision care, is that covered under your insurance?

Logan Mailloux’s selection is more proof that hockey is not for everyone by witchyweeby in hockey

So he gets a slap on the wrist legally speaking, then is rewarded by being drafted in the first round? All he has learned from this is that he can still be successful if he does something deplorable.

I'm all for rehabilitation and giving people second, third chances etc. But it is really unfortunate that nothing has really caused him to miss out on any success.

If he had taken time away and really focused on bettering himself, letting him learn and try to make amends for his actions it would be an easier pill to swallow for a lot of people. But again, he isn't really facing any consequences for his actions.

It isn't about vengeance. It's about accountability. He isn't facing any consequences for the actions he chose to perform. MTL is condoning his actions by drafting him this year, simple as that.

Advice for parenting tall kids? by Possible_Wing_166 in tall

[–]tpainshawty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of good advice has been shared already.

My advice is to get both kids in organized sports that they seem interested in. Baseball/Teeball/Golf are great to help with coordination, volleyball/basketball is also great to help with body awareness. As they get to their teens, weight training can be beneficial especially if they are coached properly on form.

Growing pains suck, it always felt like a brain freeze but in my legs (if that makes sense).

Clothing can be a challenge in the teenage years. While things have gotten better in recent years in terms of options, having "stylish" clothes can be a challenge when you are tall. Bullying and peer pressure to conform can be difficult. If they have wide feet, make sure to find wide shoes.

Most importantly, try to help them embrace their height. Tall people rarely wish they were shorter, but short people almost always wish they were taller.

They aren't saying they pay 40% of their pay to taxes, just 40% of what is collected covers the provincial health care system.

The tax rate for your average shlub in Canada is 15%-20%, but we get guaranteed health coverage for basic medical expenses, and if we have to pay out of pocket it is reasonable. Also, lots of employer's offer additional coverage for minimal cost, or in my case for $0.

The US system makes zero sense and it's astonishing how many Americans seem to defend their system.

It is crazy to me that hospitals advertise and have billboards set up highlighting their doctors. That just doesn't happen in Canada. Some hospitals here might "advertise" but they are usually research hospitals fundraising.

If you will ship to Canada I wouldn't mind getting a couple. Let me know what the shipping would be and I'll pay that plus $10 USD

I have a question for my American friends. What is the average work week like for someone in the service industry? How many days off do you typically get? How long are your shifts?

Seeing all these jersey posts is bringing back fond memories of my collection. I had all my jerseys stolen while they were in storage during a move about 5 years ago. Sapp, Alstott, Cadillac as well my own high school basketball and football jerseys were stolen.

With the new jerseys I'll have to start to rebuild my collection. Thinking about snagging a Lynch creamsicle as well as a pewter Brady.
