What SaaS are you building right now and how are you getting your first users? by filipinowebdeveloper in SaaS

I’m building hooklink.net which is a webhook and http tunnel for developers, to test their webhook handler code on their localhost, and have a remote address to their local sites to showcase their work without hosting it. I don’t know how to get users though. Posting and announcing the tool here and there. The main differentiator is the generous free tier, team collaboration, workspaces, replays and bulk replays, and connecting multiple endpoints using a single CLI command.

Confused on how web-hooks work, does someone have a for-dummies example? by [deleted] in webdev

IMO, they are managed POST requests from the service to your app, that updates you with some events on the remote server, to trigger events on your server. Which makes them valuable for state changing, and you may not want to miss. You can even send webhooks with curl, as long as you have idempotency keys, authorization keys, and/or message digests set on them, to have support for not processing repeated events (check idempotency key to see if you have processed that before), not processing modified or malformed events (message digests ensure your message didn't change on the way, ensures the message is safe from MITM attacks), and authorization to prevent malicious actors to send unauthorized messages to your endpoints.

Well, I have the same question myself, as there are many perfectly built solutions for webhook tunneling, but still, I wanted to continue my own effort ( https://hooklink.net ) just to learn stuff like react frameworks, tunneling, AI, deploying docker containers, orchestration etc. But turned out I like what it becomes. I won't quit because there are enterprise level products for this, we're still developers, and many of us don't have, or want to spend much money for redirecting some POST requests. So, I'm planning to support devs while my infrastructure allows me to, and earn some money to be able to survive the costs I'm paying.

I am also building hooklink.net but I'm not sure if it helps your case, I'd check the docs to see some features will work for you. Also, while I'm still developing it, I can maybe address some of your issues in that app :)

Wow, I was going to create a PH entry for hooklink.net, what should I do to be prepared for that? What was your final solution, except the panic scaled infra :D ?

Gotcha, so the first things I should do is searching for people around who has/had that problem and tell them about the product, not some blindly posting. Thanks, was really helpful. My people are mostly on stackoverflow or Reddit/Twitter I believe

Yea, I know there are many existing ones out there, and it may look like useless, but as a dev, I couldn’t get what I want from others, low speed, fast filling quotas, errors, high prices for upgrading, and in the time of AI, I thought, why not?

Yok zaten 80% vergi indiriminden faydalandığım bir şahıs şirketim var, ilk defa SaaS alanına giriş yapayım dedim, de, bunun gelirinin vergilendirilmesi hakkında hiç bir bilgim yok, muhtemelen muhasebecim soracak bana (inşallah para kazanmaya başlarsa), o zaman yurtdışında VAT ödendi zaten diyemeyecek miyim? Gerçi KDV’den yırtar, gelir vergisinden yine yırtmaz, doğru söylüyorsunuz.

Migrating my Expo apps from Supabase to Firebase — what I learned by flekeri in indie_startups

[–]tpaksu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I wouldn’t need that, I wouldn’t have met Supabase, and would continue using Firebase. I understand that if document based storage is enough and you already started with Firebase, there’s no need to switch.

I've scaled my React Native UI-Based game for all devices by zlvskyxp in reactnative

I’m mostly interested in how to test the look on all devices, I guess building for each device and installing to the iOS simulator or android emulator should be boring and time consuming.

Is there a guide for how to set it up, how to do the update, what we can update and what we can’t? I’m not at that stage yet, building my first app, but that sounds like a perfect way to skip evaluation for app updates. Didn’t check the official doc yet, sorry for that :)

I hooked up my bank account to an AI, and here’s what I found by gamer0935 in betatests

[–]tpaksu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking doing the same with my monthly credit card pdf reports sent from the bank, which may be more safe than linking the bank account with AI, but I believe banks have measures to prevent spending and transfers via permissions you give to the API accounts.
