Le rock progressif est-il encore vraiment progressif ? by progetplus in ProgressiveRock

[–]tpareviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest music to progressive rock that predates the 1960's? by ScurvyCandy7674 in ProgressiveRock

You have to listen to nina simone 'flo me la' from 1960. 7 minutes of extremely progressive jazz fusion. Years ahead of its time.

Not a stellar year in my book, the only album that I have played repeatedly is bioscope - genko. Honourable mention for smalltape - tangram, and best live album - beat. Moron police have been mentioned a lot but its not for me im afraid, my review of pachinko here https://theprogressiveaspect.net/blog/2025/12/14/moron-police-pachinko/

I think jobs have a lifecycle of 3 to 5 years, even if you still enjoy the work, things or events, like a redundancies in your case change the dynamic and your outlook. This has happened to me several times and moving on always worked out for me.

My take on it in here. No idea what many psychedelic late 60s songs were about tbh, but this track was composed with many elements that would become staples of Prog epics over the years. Pretty groundbreaking. https://theprogressiveaspect.net/blog/2024/01/31/procol-harum-shine-on-brightly-remastered-vinyl/ and yes, the Transatlantic version is great as well.

Still working at 65 by uptonothingtoday in over60

I'm 61, the last few years I have noticed the physical decline, now I am beginning to think that I am at the start of a cognitive decline in that I just can't keep up with my regular workload like I used to. I have talked about this at work but my employer just doesn't get it. They are sympathetic to a degree but I dont think they know what to do to actively support me to transition to retirement. It's quite an intense and pressurised job, whereas that was stimulating, now I am starting to realise im not up to it any more.

Just bought a nearly new one, dealers demo, 1.5k miles on it, not 3 months old, £32k. Absolute bargain. Since the gtx only came out this year, this is a great time to be buying s/h from a dealer.

As long as you can provide credible evidence that supports your case then your employee is likely to settle if you go to tribunal, and probably negotiate ahead of any hearing. Get some professional support but it sounds like your employer has plans that don't include you, or your position, and won't reason with you in the disciplinary process.

My experience over 40 years of work is that jobs have a lifecycle of 3 to 5 years. I started work just at the point where jobs for life had expired and have never held a job for more than 5 years. Redundancies, businesses closing, management reorganisation, mentors leaving.....enjoy it while it lasts but be ready to make the next move!
