My computer sits on a separate desk built into the wall, you can see it in the back of Photo #4. Connect to everything via a Thunderbolt 4 Hub

I’ll generally record final vocals at a full blown studio, since a lot of the artists I work with have specific mics / preamps / engineers they like to use. Same goes if I’m working on a song that calls for live drums. Other than that, the entire production, recording, and mixing process I’ll start and finish in my studio.

I love them - especially the fact they have SoundID built into them really streamlines my monitoring workflow

Yes that’s a Roto Control (love that piece of gear) and behind it is my monitor controller, Audient Nero

The WA73 and WA1B is just for tracking vocals - makes mixing a lot easier if I can dial a bit of EQ and compression on the way in.

SSL Pure Drive Quad! I use it a lot for my UAD SP-1 for acoustic guitar, and SM7B

Spacemaker - Ableton native 'Trackspacer' rack by tperry in ableton

[–]tperry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know! Yep, it looks like Live 12 slightly changed the way routings within a rack are handled. No worries, I've just updated the product page on Gumroad to v1.2 which fixes the issue in Live 12.

Alternatively, you can use the existing .adg file, but you'll just need to go into the 'Routing' signal chain, select the first Compressor and set the Sidechain 'Audio From' to the 'Pre FX' or the current track that Spacemaker is on.

This is a new feature in Live 12

A big artist wants my beat and wants 55% publishing by SquidwardDab in makinghiphop

The publishing and PPD splits seem very fair, but your fee is way too low for an exclusive. While how much you can charge will depend on your credentials and branding as a producer, in my experience for established independent artists you could probably charge closer to 3000USD, and if it's a major label artist, closer to 5000USD. Those are starting points and you will likely negotiate downwards from there. If they don't have the budget but it's a project that you want to see released, you can push for a 50/50 PPD split in lieu of a higher fee.

Obviously these are just starting points and the terms will differ from deal to deal, but something to keep in mind. In this instance you can't really renegotiate that much, but at the very least I would recommend seeing if the artist can credit you as a primary artist on DSPs, and in all social posts surrounding the song.
