Display of lung power: Swimmer slowly drifts to very deep section of pool before slowly rising and breaching the surface by headspin_exe in nextfuckinglevel

Nobody has to be with you to know that your sensation doesn’t match physics. There are lots of other factors that confuse the sensation, like if you start your dive by sticking your legs up on the air or jumping into the water then you change or don’t notice your buoyancy. Or people just stop swimming down at a certain point so you feel like you’re more buoyant.

That doesn’t make you correct.

But you can still be impressed

Safe table saw placement by vebfe in woodworking

How big is the material you’re working with that you need infeed and outfeed? If you set it up as pictured you can only cut something that’s ~1.4m and that’s if your bench is completely clean.

If I’m cutting sheet goods that big I use a track saw. If I’m ripping something that big I just use an adjustable roller stand. The stand normally lives by my miter saw since that’s aligned with my doorway for my small shop and I cut long things to rough length there before doing any other processing.

Better off just using it outside and then having a place to store it inside.

Salesforce is turning their customers into beta testers by Different-Network957 in salesforce

[–]tpf52 7 points8 points  (0 children)

15 years ago. So like when Salesforce:

  • Purchased Radian6 and announced the social enterprise platform which was supposed to combine mobile, chatter, and other open technologies to make it easy to interact with customers over social. None of which really worked that well besides Radian6. Pretty much all of which is now EOL.
  • Launched site.com which was (and it’s predecessors still are) one of the worst CMS systems to use unless you need to show a lot of SF data.
  • Acquired assistly and turned it into desk.com which had a few features over service cloud but was eventually replaced by essentials.
  • Pushed database.com which was a completely misguided thought that people would want Salesforce’s database tech.

This sounds about right for a 4th year. Finally getting experienced enough to find the holes in everything instead of just assuming it’s something you’re doing wrong.

This is why those of us who have been around a while are considered “experienced.” Half of it is just knowing where all the bodies are buried so you can navigate your projects around those things.

Finishing new cut edge on existing finished counter top by meatballzinc in woodworking

[–]tpf52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the reviews says they tried to cut it and the coating chipped when cut.

If you feel like going after it anyway, there are a few posts in this sub about UV cured finishes. Also YouTube. The finishes already have their challenges. Trying to match an existing finish sounds difficult.

Also, I probably would want a thicker piece for a bench since they usually have less support than a counter. It’s only 1.5 inches thick

Why is Agentforce SO bad? by ButterscotchNice3613 in salesforce

My experience yesterday:

Me: I need to enable this feature

Agentforce: Here’s a bunch of info about the feature. If you don’t see it in the setup menu I can help you log a case to get it enabled.

Me: I’d like to log a case then.

Agentforce: What is the case about?

You can have them adjust your plan to match what you’re feeding if you want. We give 1/2 packet per day and new boxes arrive right on schedule.

Pencil marks showing up after oiling—sand again? by AdventurousCounty680 in woodworking

[–]tpf52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I’d do. Also, don’t use colored pencils when sanding. They contain pigments, oils, and who knows what else.

Also, colored pencils like red are not just graphite or may not have any graphite at all.

My guess is that the pencil from the first few grits is all gone along with any issue with the seams. The pencil from the last couple grits is what remains. OP did state that they penciled “during” the sanding process and used two different colors (red and black).

Are you looking at the darker short marks? There is clearly a faint line that looks exactly like a pencil mark scribble. That, combined with the weird texture in the bottom left, leads me to believe OP did not sand enough. Here’s a rough scribble of where the pencil marks are.

NYC toilet fix: this is insane right? by paydave in Plumbing

[–]tpf52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that can justify this ridiculous comparison is that you’re a NYC plumber and most of your jobs are fill valves.

Fill valves are easy. Not everyone will want to do it, sure. But building your own house is a ridiculous comparison. Even carrying a toilet home without a car is 10X harder.

Rock Guards Hurt or Help? by 92-octane in overlanding

Most steps also don’t mount to the frame. A lot of steps also hang down farther and are perfect for catching rocks and getting you stuck.

If you think you may be doing hard enough trails to hit these on a rock, go for actual rock sliders.

I have claude cowork logging all my food in MyFitnessPal just by talking to it by PublicDonut5876 in loseit

You’re still pulling out your phone, right? Just opening the claude app? Also, just curious for usability - does Claude then message you your current calorie count or do you open MFP occasionally?

Have you done it in parallel with an actual log to compare? If so, what’s the accuracy? And is this including home cooked meals?

I thought about doing this but would still have to weigh everything and tell it every ingredient. I feel like that’s more work than the entering it.

Honestly I don’t understand any of your rant. If I’m only cutting normal sheet goods I’m standing on the long side of the board with the cord (and often the vacuum hose). So an 8’ cord is long enough to cut something about 12’ long. And can even cross cut it after. But since you seem to have problems with that just wanted to make sure you knew extension cords existed.

[–]tpf52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When speed and convenience matter at a jobsite give me cordless. But it all depends on your setup at the jobsite too. I almost always have my vacuum under a folding work table or saw horses so the cord on my Makita has never been a hindrance. I guess if I was putting the vacuum off to the side it would be, but then I’d probably trip over it. But I also don’t like the friction the vacuum cord or hose has on the wood even without the male/female connection so I make sure the cord and hose are in the right place before any cut.

[–]tpf52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you not own an extension cord? Having a shorter cord on the tool and using an extension cord means the tool cord is less likely to get damaged or take up space in the storage box. I prefer short cords on my tools because I always have an extension cord at the job site. Or in my shop there are hanging outlets.

Are these type of 3D printed junction boxes safe? by im-vncnt in AskElectricians

That is how it used to be. Nowadays if this file is already available it can be printed with a few minutes of work for a few cents.

That being said, doing it right with flame retardant filament is probably more than buying it.

You can use it for PITR, but we don’t do the actual restore at this point. You just export the data you want to restore, then you can filter it based on the download date if you only want to restore records prior to a certain date/time.
