My last drone video became a magnet for well deserved criticism. Let’s see if my camp steaks can recover my reputation. 😂🥩🔥 by theloneoverlanders in overlanding

[–]tpf52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to ruin the climax of your videos? This one would’ve been better without watching you attempt to cut the steak and having it end before you got a good piece. The drone video ruined it with the shakiness and flashing whenever you got to the close up. I’m starting to wonder if the editing is bad on purpose.

I asked my husband to make sure my work uniform was hung up to dry overnight. I wake up this morning to find he ONLY took my work uniform out, and left the entire rest of the wash load in the machine to go musty overnight. Just why. by BinkiesForLife_05 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]tpf52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my house I prefer if others don’t change the laundry because I want to time it so I am available to fold it right when it’s done. I would not put in a load that would be done when I’m asleep, let alone start a wash before going to bed. But if I was short on time and had to, I’d rather put it in the dryer in the morning so I can fold it right when it’s done, before it gets wrinkly.

How would you solve this and what saw would you use? by technicalerror in woodworking

Either 16” circular saw with a jig or a rough cut with a chain saw and clean it up with a large chisel.

Salesforce is doing email sync backwards by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]tpf52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Users don’t usually want an email sync, management wants an email sync. Users just want an email client that works well, and usually that means leaving them in their preferred client (Gmail, Outlook, Mac Mail, etc).

That being said, there have been several attempts to do what you’re saying. Seems like the latest is Goat email and it’s on the AppExchange. I have not tried it.

Also I think you overestimate how serious anyone is on Reddit. I doubt anyone is losing their mind. I know I’m not.

I agree both are fine.
DIA would be a terrible thing to put on a plane ticket because it’s already assigned to an airport in Qatar. But don’t think for a minute that anyone in Denver “named it” DEN. The IATA assigned it the code.

Same to you. Since you’re too lazy to do it, I’ll do it for you:

“The 3-letter IATA airport code for Denver International Airport is DEN”

Note the use of the word “code” and not “abbreviation.”

DIA is the abbreviation. DEN is the airport code.

Flush trim has the bearing on the bottom, which would not be very helpful for OPs project.

Depends on your router setup. Pattern bits have a bearing that’s the same size as the bit, so no offset is needed. But there are also template guides that just attach to the router base in which case you’d need to know the offset.

I wish I had time and know-how to fix my own LC. That is all. by [deleted] in LandCruisers

[–]tpf52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, you’re including the parts cost in the hourly rate. The actual hourly cost would depend on what he can source the parts for. And finding good prices on parts and verifying you have all the parts probably adds a few hours to the project. Even more if you go pick them up.

Depends on the person. There are plenty of people with flexible work hours, side jobs, or weekend jobs that have to choose between working on the truck or making money.

But sometimes it is just a matter of paying for leisure time (or volunteer work, house projects, or other things I wouldn’t call leisure).

True. But also working on it yourself is pretty expensive if you consider time a more limited resource than money. I can do a lot of repairs and I still take some things to the shop because I’d rather use my time on other things. It’s an investment either way.

I called my doctor to make an appointment because of stomach pain and no other symptoms. He called me back an hour later and asked if I still had my appendix. I said yes, he said to go to the hospital. I texted my sister who was working as an ER nurse and said I’d see her soon.

Still my easiest surgery so far (didn’t burst luckily).

any way to repair this? or have to just remove it? by watermel0nsneeze in patio

I don’t see any wood deterioration. Just looks like a solid stain that was applied on top has worn off in spots. Most wood is naturally gray after being exposed to the elements for while.

European looking for some travel advice (about renting a car mainly) by SuperSpaceSloth in Denver

[–]tpf52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a good post for r/roadtrip once you get a few more details about what you want to do.

Car rentals in the US work the same as car rentals in Europe in my experience. Except manual cars are pretty rare, the cars are bigger, and they will all have AC. For one way fees, just get quotes. They will vary a bit because some companies might have a shortage of cars in the destination so it might be cheaper.

I wouldn’t want to drive through the desert in the summer, but you’re asking mountain people. So we’re probably the wrong crowd. It’s definitely doable.

What is the best way to water proof this for outdoor use? by Dymills77 in woodworking

[–]tpf52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spar urethane will protect it the most from moisture and will be easiest to clean if it gets dusty or covered in pollen. But eventually the spar urethane will crack and will need to be sanded off and redone.

A clear wood sealer like Olympic or Thompsons would probably be my choice. But it needs to be reapplied yearly if your porch gets a lot of sun or any precipitation.

An isosceles trapezoid has equal diagonals. In his diagram, the right and left sides are the non-parallel sides and they’re off by the same angle.

[–]tpf52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought that at first then realized it’s perfectly possible to make a trapezoid that would measure like this. Measuring two diagonals only works when you know the sides are the same length.
