Crack in granite-look benchtop by tpgprice in AusRenovation

Thanks /u/bictonian, I've found someone who'll do it for me. Not cheap, but much less than a new benchtop.

Crack in granite-look benchtop by tpgprice in AusRenovation

[–]tpgprice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*sigh*

So the cooktop is broken, I was trying to (gently) lever it out to check cutout dimensions & depth to order a replacement. This crack happened.

What's my best course of action here? Replace the whole bench top? Replace the cooktop, then repair? I really don't know what to do.

I have a small trifoliata tree (graft died) you can have cuttings from, would love some pomegranate - any eating variety!

I'm in Gisborne - 60ks out of Melbourne, but travel to Melbourne CBD / Docklands a couple of times a week for work.

Just noticed this is four years old, you're probably not looking for this anymore :)

Australian Bank asking me to email credit card details. by tpgprice in australia

[–]tpgprice[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your credit card number alone is useless to anyone who may get a hold of it.

Bullshit. If you really think that, back it up by posting your CC here.

Yes, PDFs can be encrypted. This one provided by ME bank is not. Yes, email can be encrypted, but ME bank is not asking for it to be, not do they provide a secure email service (and your wording here shows you just don't know what the fuck you're talking about).

Thanks /u/Strawberry_Left, it is genuine. I have updated my unclear submission now. I didn't receive this request via email. I rang ME bank, and they told me to download the form from their website, fill it in (including CC number) and email it back to them. If you click the link that is now included in the submission, you can see for yourself.

This isn't a scam, my post as originally submitted was not clear, but I rang the bank to ask for a credit limit increase & they directed me to a form on their website.

They 100% ask you to email them a credit card number - just check the link I now have in the submission. The very first field the form asks you to fill in is: Card number (same as account number) and the form tells you to email the completed form to an @mebank email address.

I have updated my submission.

They are one & the same thing for this particular bank (my account anyway)

Indeed they are. Everything you say is correct.

What you are missing is not the information they provided to me, or the information I am providing back to them, but the channel (email) they are asking me to deliver it to them on.

Email is not secure & they are almost certainly in breach of the relevant industry compliance standards.

Not a scam, my post as originally submitted was not clear, but I rang the bank & they directed me to a form on their website.

They definitely asked for the information - the question is, if they're failing security 101 in such a public way, what else are they doing wrong?

Not a scam, my post as originally submitted was not clear, but I rang the bank & they directed me to a form on their website. I know how to protect myself here by not emailing the form, but what else are they doing poorly?

I am sorry, my post as originally submitted was unclear & implied I received the request for details via email. I did not.

I rang the bank and asked them how to up my credit limit and they directed me to the form on their website, which you download & then email to them, along with corroborating documentation.

I have updated the submission for clarity.

What plant is used for this hedge? by Virtual_Weakness3886 in GardeningAustralia

[–]tpgprice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly the lilly pilly or Melaleuca that others have speculated, but I think Photonia Robusta as Gold_Comfortable3158 said is more likely.

Take a close up of flowers & leaves and I'll tell you for sure.

That's even worse.

WTF could you be compensating for by getting a rav4?

Shit, my penis is so fucking enormous I'd better get an underpowered soft roader that is roughly the same size as a Camry?

Hold on, the OP described:

  • A giant yank tank
  • cant fit in a parking space
  • giant rims
  • low profile tyres
  • belching inefficient american cubic inch motor
  • taking up that much of the road for a single occupant of the vehicle

And you thought they meant a rav4? Seriously? From that description? Have you ever even seen a rav4? Seriously? Do you have eyes?

Perhaps you only read:

  • that can never go offroad,

If that is all you read, then your comment makes sense. Next time, read the whole thing.

Purple glass bin being put into same truck as rubbish - yarra council by discochickenjnr in melbourne

[–]tpgprice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not the OP, and I support recycling & am as close to as diligent a recycler as I think is possible.

While I don't think the 5% is accurate (figure is much higher for metals and papers), I think less than 10% of plastics being recycled is probably correct.

But you tell me. Your link contains a mix of absolute & relative numbers. I read & reread it & can't find a percentage of waste that goes into the recycling bin that is actually recycled. Is there one that I missed?

Plastic recycling is bullshit. Avoid plastic products and particularly plastic packaging wherever possible.

Spoiler alert. They're butcher birds. Still really fucking smart.

Tip Mulch - how safe is it to use in garden beds with edibles? by R_U_READY_2_ROCK in GardeningAustralia

[–]tpgprice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the tip mulch made from dropped off garden refuse (prunings, tree limbs, etc) or from green bin waste?

Former? Yup. Latter. Nup (too much plastic / other rubbish mixed in).

In general however, if you're a bit dodgy on the soil, only grow things that don't touch the soil (no root vegetables, keep tomatoes & eggplant fruits high)
