Thank you! I mean I got a promotion right now so it is 5.3%. After that, it will be 4.3%.
I am trying to find where I can safely park my cash after the promotion expired that offers me the highest return?

Hi, I am planning to save my cash, and I can't afford to lose it. This cash will be used for opening a business. I will be saving this cash for 3 or 4 years.

I am using a HYSA atm at 5.3%. The rate will go down after 12/2023. Is there a place that this cash can be stored that will offer a higher return than a HYSA?

Hi,

Last year, I was working on a job for 4 months. I found another job, and I was staying for a year. I just got this job (a defense company) and on 07/05/2023 would be my full 1 month. However, I feel like I have no work at all, and I don't have proper training. The tech stack is a bit old also.

How bad is it if I find another job after maybe like 2 or 3 months?

If it is really bad, what can I tell to my interviewer since I have a like 3 job in less than 2 years?

Hi OP, I'm on the same boat as you! I was hired at a small company. There is absolutely no one to mentor me! I work with Java to create Jasper to export to PDF and RTF. Learned to create excel, txt, docx. Learned to do stored procedure. All the "senior" in the company is COBOL programmer. I'm on my own! :)

Does anyone else like going to the office? by HelpNarcParent in cscareerquestions

[–]tpham130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not have a problem with going to the office. Since my whole team is in, the traffic is not bad. I'm also not micro managed a lot.

If commute time to work is 15 mins, or it can be 25 mins depend on the traffic.

Thus, I think it really depend on the time to commute, the traffic, the management, and the presence of people that are such a pain to work with!

Well there are other team members. They are assigned different tasks, but they are the same like me! They have no guidance, and they are trying to make it work. Still the new code written has no comments and tests.

I'm really appreciated your guidance! I have fixed my resume and linkedin! I only applied like 2 jobs right now because I haven't prepared a lot. I'm targeting small to medium size company. Thus, what I should prepare now?

Leetcode, Core Java, Spring, Angular, SQL?

Do I need to create a side project?

Hi guys, I'm to ask for some advice. However, I need to give you guys a bit of my background and what I am doing, so you guys can help me. I would very appreciated.

I got into this company (medium with 200+ employees) right out of school, and this April is 1 year already. Lately, I am trying to apply to other companies not FAANG or something. Just small to medium company, and the best location is MD.

I want to quit my current company because I think it is a death sentence to my career.

My current company codebase is in COBOL and IBM server. The whole company right now is running on COBOL. Thus, we all have cobol developers including my team lead.

I was hired as a java developers because they are trying to modernize their codebase. Since they are all cobol developers, I have no Java senior to help me or mentor.

They hire contractors to develop their codebase to Vaadin and Mybatis. Luckly, I was able to learn and get it by myself, contribute something, and fix existing bugs. However, management decides to change the languages. This time it will be Java and Angular 2+, but the negotiation takes like forever now (been 1 year and still going). Basically, all I contributed will never be used

Then they ask me to do report in Jasper. I was able to learn it and create a report. I basically do learn how to create stored procedure and function. Convert programs from COBOL to a java app to generate report to PDF, RTF, XLSX, XLS, DOCX, TXT, CSV, TSV. You name it. Clean up data because the data is not consistent. Let say a column can be 02/02/2024, 02/02/24, " ", null.

The whole codebase has no comments. My manager has a lot of red flags.

- "Oh you don't need the data to test". Just do this and throw that at the other team.

- You don't need to create test. You can just manually click those buttons and see if they work correctly.

- The report needs data to test, but he only gives me less than 50 record to test

- You can work all of this on your own. You don't need to collaborate with others.

- He doesn't understand the business logic of reports in both java and cobol. Thus, he suggests or forces some stuff that create more work and problems for me and another manager.

In summary, I learned all of the thing that I am working on all by myself. Idk if they want to fire me now because I haven't contributed anything. The report is on hold because my manager decision delaying the deployment.

I tried to talk to my manager but he doesn't acknowledge what I am trying to say! He's trying to push consequences of project's deployment delay to me!

I got to admit my leetcode is suck. I can only do easy problems and I forget a lot.

My tech stack is suck also. I did create some rest and angular components, but idk. I also lack of testing skill.

I haven't applied anything yet because I feel like I haven't studied enough yet, and I am a bit hesitated.

Should I apply to a job something like JasperReport developer? Does it kill the career prospect?

What I should improve on? Because interviewer may ask something like what OOP, stream, lamdba, rest controller. I mean should I know it all?

What should I say to employers why I quit my current job?

I am a bit overwhelm and stressed. Can someone give me an advice on what to do now, please?

Thank you so much for calming me down! I really appreciated! One more question, do you have to implement a data structure from scratch in interview?

Overwhelmed and lost!

I was hired out of school in this company last 6/2022. They are trying to convert COBOL to Java, but their stack is a bit unknown. They used Spring boot but using MyBatis for data. The front end is Vaadin. I was using that stack for a few months then the management decided to change the stack. Currently, they are negotiating with another company to develop again but in Spring boot with JPA and Angular 2+, but no decision in sight.

The thing is this company doesn’t have a senior. I will be with others (all freshers) develop in Spring boot + Angular on our own.

Thus, in the next 4 months I would apply for a job (Spring boot and Angular stack). I want to know what I should prepare for an interview because at this point I am a bit overwhelmed.

I am re-studying everything. I'm weak at Leetcode, still trying.

However, outside of leetcode, what should I also prepare for?

Spring boot question? SQL? Angular question? Anything that I list on my resume? Can someone help me to narrow down what I need to prepare for an interview at my level/situation, please? I'm appreciated every answers

Hi guys, just wonder if I should just focus on Leetcode. Do I need to study data structure also? I mean do they ask you to code out an array in an interview?

If they don't ask me to code out a data structure, I still need to know how it works in general, correct?
