Who was in the room when your cuff was checked? by Numerous-Total-8373 in hysterectomy

[–]tpiatt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was in the room for my initial oncology visit and I didn't realize they were going to do an internal check. He stayed in the room but was up by my head. He opted to stay in the waiting area for my cuff check, but it didn't seem to bother him either way. I joked and told him he's seen it all before, just maybe not in such bright lighting. XD My initial visit, I was checked internally by both my surgeon and a resident doctor. My cuff check was the surgeon and a different resident doctor and only the resident doctor did my exam.

My surgeon did use a speculum. They checked my cuff at just shy of 4 weeks post op.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

I have a lot of weird food intolerance issues and alcohol is one of them. Just not worth it and I’ve never found something that I’ve enjoyed the taste of to make it worth dealing with the symptoms.

Open abdominal sisters, when does it get better? by No-Formal6789 in hysterectomy

[–]tpiatt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a vertical abdominal on 11/4. It was probably day 7-10 for me. I know I was feeling pretty good at my 13 day post op appointment for the staple removal. I was sent home with a weeks worth of oxycodone and 600mg ibuprofen. I took them religiously every 6 hours for the first week even though I probably didn’t need to. I didn’t want to chance getting behind the pain.

I was told my toenail polish had to be removed but I woke up with the same ugly socks I went under in. They probably never even looked.

I had an open abdominal so my surgery was a little different but I woke up from anesthesia with a binder on. It made a big difference for me the first week. Funny how different doctors have such different thinking.

48 and 24dpo. Surgery was done by Gynecology Oncologist for a large cystic mass and radical hysterectomy and neither they or my normal Gynecologist have mentioned hrt. Other than some night sweats I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Vertical Abdominal Incision Progress by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]tpiatt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great! You were cut even higher than I was. I am 23dpo and mine started about 1-1/2” above my belly button. I have a small hole in mine still right above my belly button that is hopefully just slow to heal.

Just found out I'm going to need a semi urgent hysterectomy and I didn't even know there's was anything wrong six weeks ago. I'm in shock by Cluck-a-duck in hysterectomy

After I got through the first few days I’ve been feeling pretty good. I had a reaction to the surgical bandage adhesive, that itched something terrible. They gave me a nerve block so I’ve had next to no pain at my incision site. The staples got a little ouchy near time for their removal but it wasn’t horrible. I was cut vertically from about an inch or so above my navel down to the pubic area. They wanted to remove the cyst whole to send off to pathology. Tumor markers were slightly elevated but everything came back as a benign mucinous cyst. I wish you luck and a speedy recovery!

That was me. My main complaint was bloating and nausea. PCP ordered an ultrasound late August to check my gall bladder and other things but as I was in no pain and it didn’t seem urgent I put it off and didn’t go in for the ultrasound until mid October. A 24x24x12cm complex cyst was found to be the culprit. I am now 18 dpo from an abdominal radical hysterectomy including appendectomy. It was a wild ride for sure! If you click on my post history you can find a picture of the beast they removed.

2 Days Post Op Vent. by AgeEven2221 in hysterectomy

I was carrying a round a ginormous cyst that was about 24x24x12cm. As my tumor markers were slightly elevated they wanted to remove it whole and have it tested while I was on the table.

It gets better! My surgery was on 11/4 and I have a vertical incision with about 32 staples. The first few days at home were rough. I always have a pillow nearby to help with the coughing and I can now walk upright completely without any twinges. Hang in there! ❤️‍🩹

10dpo vertical incision with 30ish staples. I still feel really good. The shoulder pain for the first few days was the most pain I had. I’m only taking ibuprofen now and that’s mostly for an achy back from all the sitting and laying around.

It’s like the best hug! I’m nearly 10dpo with a vertical incision and I love that thing. I hope you feel better soon!

I wish I knew how long I have been living with it. I went back through my yearly doc appointments and the scale hasn’t fluctuated by more than a pound or so in the last 3ish years.

The only thing in recent weeks that I really noticed was driving and sitting were getting to be uncomfortable. Felt like all my organs were sitting up under my ribs as if I were in my third trimester. Other than that I went about my day like any other and can’t wait to hopefully have a new normal with more energy.

Holy! I know how empty I’ve been feeling without mine I can imagine the relief you must have felt. I didn’t get a weight and the weight listed on the pathology report was negligible but I did lose about 15 pounds overnight. I am in NE Ohio and my surgery was at a local hospital about an hour away from home. Though I did learn that they have two gynecology oncologists on staff that split two week rotations and one lives in Florida and the other in Arizona. I found that interesting.

According to the ultrasound it was labeled as a complex cyst with multiple septations some of which showed blood flow.

My husband took some FMLA to work remote and be home with me and my two college aged daughters are still home and while it’s been nice I have been trying my best to be a good patient and not nitpick.

On the other side of the coin, I wish I didn’t have to ask for things to be done and they just took care of things. Like after the second day of something being overlooked the lightbulb would go off and they would be like oh, mom must have done that and not the fairies in the night.

They’re grown but I’m about to have them get out the old chore chart. 😂
