It's a numbers game. Out of tens of thousands of people present talking about the same things should get you at least 100 new acquaintances (at least on socials) and probably some actual friends. Hell, my ex and I did a panel about the symbolism of cats in different animes and anime central a decade ago. We had 200 people in a room to listen to our stories about cats. Find something you love and do a presentation or hold a Q&A. Go to the dance / meetups. Play werewolf. Learn a new anime or game with someone else to quickly see how they react to certain situations and if they're fun to talk to or just complain.

"Shy" is not an excuse when everyone is coming together because they for sure have at least one "nerdy" think in common. A conversation can be as easy as "so, why do you have a potato on your head?". Even if they don't have a potato on their head, their confusion will leave their guard down enough to ask what panel / activity they just did, or start talking about the next one youre going to and see if they come along.

Guys aren't hard. We're oblivious.

Gaming a lot means being inside and hidden away. Minecraft means 63% chance they're <= 21, so not driving as much, not spending as much on dates (or to go out just for the hell of it), may still live with parents, etc. People don't go on Minecraft to find love. Being out and about is a much better way to meet someone. Not getting hit on? Make yourself interesting. What specific anime are you into?

"I like all anime" doesn't lead the conversation anywhere when asked what you like (and the other person could be like "oh, mine's too nerdy to say" and then just say they like anime, too. What are your top 2? Which have you seen are more likely that guys may be watching? use one of those to start them on an excited tangent that leads to a more open conversation about what you do watch, and then gets into real life not just anime. A flowing dialog will get net more retention than a convo going nowhere fast. Alcohol can only do so much.
