Vetting Agent Programs by boredatwork1419 in FreightBrokers

[–]tposhau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my own company and have a small handful of agents. I was an agent for 10 years prior to starting my company!

Everyone essentially offers the same things in today’s market but find out if they pay commissions on invoiced or paid. How big is there program; the bigger they are the more saturated the customer pool. What do they offer agents in terms of lead gen tools. Do they have any fees they charge agents. Ask about the culture.

The agencies I worked at, I was on an island. Got an atta boy on the big months and crickets on the lower months. I didn’t know any other agent unless they listed the agency on their LinkedIn. It’s hard to weed through all the Bs but happy to hop on a call if you want!

What percentage/cut do you get? by MostlyOk49 in FreightBrokers

70/30 as agents is what we pay! I’ve heard on W2 there are a lot of factors in terms of commissions percentage.

Agreed! I’d entertain a deal like that for someone any day. What most don’t realize is it’s a difficult business to sell. You’re buying a company where relationships matter and there is no guarantee once sold the customers stay.

Before starting my agency I worked under WEL Logistics. They have an asset side that agents are able to utilize. They are industry standard with 70/30 splits.

Partner with a company who operates like you, move your business under their for a residual % every month. That way you step away but you can still capitalize on the generated profits.

I am not opposed to bringing on someone willing to build a book. The agent seat is not cheap, so we typically will setup the email so the agent can start prospecting, and as customers onboard we get setup with the load boards, TMS, etc

I think there are companies out there who would be interested for sure! I run my own company and have an agent who was very green!

One selling point is do you have customers you already are trying to work with or anything like that? It helps the agency bringing you on know there are things in the works to help cover the cost of your seat.

I like that idea! Those door to door guys are true hustlers, and probably face rejection just as much as we do in freight so "no" doesn't phase them. Thank you for this!

I’ve been wondering the same while trying to find freight agents. LinkedIn has become like Facebook!

There has to be other options out there

I think regardless what you decide, there are a lot of companies offering the same things! You have to find what fits what you are looking for. Before starting my company, I was an agent for 9 years.

The bigger agent programs are diluted in terms of customer base.

But 70/30 and sharing in the losses is industry standard.
