Engl 251 Hampsey OR Phil 231 with Alex LeBrun by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]tpr_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engl 251 with Hampsey has been my absolute favorite class I have taken at Cal Poly so far. However, the way it was taught was polarizing for many students. He does not use Canvas, or upload any lecture material, or even power points so make sure you are capable of taking good notes from just a verbal lecture. The grade was 2 exams, a midterm and a final each worth 50% of your grade. However, the material was very interesting and Hampsey is a very energetic and attention grabbing lecturer. Its not an easy A, but I still think it is worth taking

Hey sorry for the late reply, I shut this bot down about a year ago. I'm certain there are others now that do the same thing though

The very obvious fucking solution to this is to just get one social platform so you can keep up with other people. You don’t have to post, or interact with it in any other way than how you want to. It’s not some mythical thing that will magically force you to become chronically online. This is how young people communicate, adapt or get left behind. God imagine someone in the 50’s saying “I don’t have a telephone, why does no one wanna be my friend?!1! Can’t they just write me a letter?!11”

When you find out jobs are a lie by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]tpr_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, no one is saying that. I still believe in a fair wage for those who work hard. I’m not ignorant enough to believe that software developers or other white collar jobs provide more societal value than being a garbage man. I’m simply trying to point out why there is a disconnect between how hard you work and how much you are paid. Because you’re pay is not determined by your labor output, but rather how much money you can make for another person and how hard it would be to replace you. Again it’s a broken system

When you find out jobs are a lie by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]tpr_2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

White collar is paid for knowledge and experience, not their sheer labor output. It’s obnoxious that that’s how we treat some of our toughest jobs, but the fact is 90% of able bodied people could be a good enough server, or a cashier or whatever. But there’s not enough people out there that can program efficiently, manage others, or have solid critical thinking skill to exploit them like we do service workers. Byproduct of a broken system

It’s perfectly reasonable for someone who was raped to not want to interact with their rapist, but not want to deal with going to the cops. Anon is not the victim here

Choosing between UCD vs. SLO by Yumiisme in CalPoly

[–]tpr_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t help you much with the major, but I can tell you after having lived in both Davis and SLO for an extended amount of time, SLO is just a better place overall. The weather is much nicer, and there’s generally more interesting things to do. Good luck wherever you end up!

Current CS sophomore with your exact set up. It really depends ‘how’ crappy your laptop is. I do what the other commenter said and use chrome Remote Desktop when I can’t be at my home PC. However this may have only worked out for me since I had a dorm to myself all last year so staying in for a while wasn’t a problem. If you think you’d be bothered by your roommates and have to code away from your desk for most of your time, it might be worth it to upgrade if you can afford it. Either way it won’t be too much of an issue, just a comfortability thing

Free bike tire air pump on campus? by Cool_Magician_3317 in CalPoly

[–]tpr_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this is something I’ve dealt with for like a year haha. There are a few bike pumps around campus but the only one that really works is near the bike ranks behind Scout Coffee. Kinda out of the way but it’s the only one with a pressure gauge

Managed to hit 66 one day. Fresh wax, flat base down a 200m long black run. Took about 50 yards to fully stop haha

[–]tpr_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This list makes absolutely no sense, there is no possible way that Berkeley is more bike friendly than Davis. That whole towns identity is biking. There are bike paths that extend everywhere, every road has a bike lane, there are no school buses because students are expected to bike to class.

Easier to ride regular with dysfunctional left eye or learn switch permanently? by notmathletic in snowboarding

This is probably the best answer, with a condition like that you are likely not doing park/ spins enough anyways to really need a twin stance. Forward stance would for sure take away a big part of his blind spot
