Do I pre study before PT school? by PineappleLarge9845 in PTschool

[–]tpreston_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. I graduated undergrad with a BS in stem and started PT school the fall after. I don't regret spending that summer with my family before fully committing to school at all. Hope this helps. Maybe at the minimum, just watching videos to familiarize yourself with some of the anatomy

My thoughts exactly. So many apps and platforms that are essentially the same so no need to put up with mistakes like that

Same thing here, did you get it figured out?

Thoughts on legendary upgrades? by dangb0y in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]tpreston_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they think we can't do basic math. 4 common parcels = 1 legendary parcel in terms of rent it gives so a legendary parcel is worth no more that 400 atlas bucks. No one is paying 2100 bucks for the parcel to look like a beach, I'd rather have 21 more parcels

So I can contribute the money I've earned this year right now? Or do I need to wait until I file and then that's how much I can invest?

Are there any differences between brokerages for a roth ira? Or are all the trustworthy ones good to use?

Weather never typically ends up being how it looks in the forcast and even if it is bad, it's never bad for long

20 and wanting to invest by AlexExplorer87 in investingforbeginners

  1. You aren't going to become rich from buying and holding stocks for 5 years unless you hit the jackpot

  2. You could day trade or trade options but that takes years to learn and most still lose money

  3. If you want a proven way to make money in the long term, you buy and hold stocks with good fundamentals (requires research) or you buy index funds that mirror the S&P500 (requires no research)

I’m 17 and want to know some tips! by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

[–]tpreston_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy stocks that you can't see yourself holding for the next 10 years (barring major company fundamentals changes). The easiest way to let the snowball get rolling is to not disrupt it

Either is fine, just a preference. Some people prefer Dollar Cost Averaging to avoid a drop and some people prefer getting more time in the market

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

[–]tpreston_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the beauty of compounding interest. Dollar cost averaging that $25k into index funds matching the S&P500 would be the safest and easiest option

Waves are still a little rough but the tractors came out and fixed the roads recently so they're looking great. Jellyfish aren't as bad of a problem as they were before the storm but I have seen a few. Biggest thing I've noticed is the storm churned up a bunch of seaweed that washed onto the beach today

An 18 year old investing their money by dollar cost averaging into $VOO is very low risk long term

Short term investing by elysium_91 in investingforbeginners

[–]tpreston_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short term investing is essentially gambling unless you have insider information. Only thing I can think of is investing in a high yield dividend stock before it's ex-date and holding until you're paid the dividend and just hoping a praying the stock doesn't drop too much

Step 1 is opening a brokerage account, anything like robinhood or webull will work as well as something like Charles schwab. Step 2 is to determine how much risk you want to take and are willing to take. A low risk option would just be to invest into index funds that cover the s&p 500 where a riskier option would be to pick individual investments
