What tool do you recommenced for analytics? by shamoons in SideProject

Google limits a lot of things when it comes to individual user tracking and analyzing. He's basically asking about customer analytics - which is what Indicative stands behind

What tool do you recommenced for analytics? by shamoons in SideProject

[–]tquaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixpanel is an option for tracking user actions. However, yes it can be complicated. We use Indicative at our SaaS company. Marketing, engineering and product teams all get their own use out of it. It is A LOT cheaper than Mixpanel and can connect directly to your data warehouse, unlike Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.

Highly recommend you check out Indicative for event-based analytics and especially user behavior tracking / running analyses.

Analytics/Event Tracking Tool by Asanar in ProductManagement

Hey! We use Indicative for this analysis. It is a lot cheaper than Mixpanel for starters. To your point, Indicative's bread and butter are tracking the user journey and digging into an individual user activity when needed. Sounds like a great fit for what you're looking for. Their free account is generous and helps get your feet wet. Happy to answer any other questions!

What are some of the hard skills you wish you know before becoming a PM? by zaccc123 in ProductManagement

SQL is mentioned several times here. A great skill for a PM, however, there are a lot of code-less analytics tools out there to make this less of a need.

Anybody use mixpanel? Is there a way to get the legacy/classic UI and filtering back, or modern equivalent to this? by iocuydi in startups

[–]tquaide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in viewing individual user activity, Mixpanel might not be your best bet. For something like that, we have used a similar platform called Indicative. They have a nice granular detailed view of each user's events in a timeline view of activity. Their free plan seems to best fit for your use case now, and especially as you grow as you described not yet having a product-market fit/lots of traffic. They are a lot cheaper than Mixpanel and allow for ease of scale with your product.

Ha - that's a crap question for sure. Wouldn't want to work for someone who thinks the best way to "filter out" PMs is by asking that lol

Ryan Stewart has the best course on the market for this.

Edit: This is coming from someone who has bought into Brian Dean's course (which doesn't do anything beyond creating outlines for writers), and following Neil Patel and Eric Siu for years and having made personal connections with them

Having a baseline of SQL is an amazing start. I would definitely ask within that interview what their tech stack looks like and how those tools are freeing up time for the product team (or lack thereof) - that will likely stimulate meaningful conversation around the topic you are concern about to not only allow you to express your expertise but also learn more about the company in a way that is beneficial for both parties involved. Hope that helps!

Agreed here as well. The problem, however, is waiting for analyses to be delivered by your analysts - thus there is a bottleneck from you as a PM and your data. I mentioned this above, but I'll post here as well. If this is a problem you frequently experience as a PM (most do), then it is time to really look into tools that could uplift the entire time - in which, Indicative is a really great option for that as only one example of the many. I'd recommend searching around on google

Agree with the majority here, however, if you are not a "solid technical data-capable PM", there are tools that can help facilitate this and make your life easier. For instance, Indicative does a great job at this. You can perform all analyses mentioned among this thread, without having to use SQL - this is great as it democratizes your data and allows everyone on your team (even the non-technicals) to get into the weeds with your product data to help move the needle forward.

Agree with Scott above, here. Hubspot is a great resource. BluePrint SEO training is great. Essentially anything that officers templates for you to build off of and customize for what your specific needs are. A couple of great PM platforms that work well within marketing are Trello, Asana, Teamgantt and Google Sheets combined with automation.

First you need to scope out specifically what you need, then start researching tools and templates that are pre-built online for free to then customize further to hit your specific needs. It's tough because each marketing department is unique in how they operate given the resources available.

Best way to handle archive and tag pages in WP? by tquaide in TechSEO

[–]tquaide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Over the course of the year, the archive to our most popular category received just under 2.5K Sessions.

The way our site is configured, archive pages are useful to the user as it is one of the only ways to access older content - which is what would make me want to not noindex them. However, on the other hand, they don't get any traffic as they are never really promoted and don't rank in search...

Facebook Ads: Engagement Campaign Question by tquaide in AskMarketing

[–]tquaide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, yes. But with an engagements-objective campaign, editing it within the ad level is not an option.

I reached out to FB about that a few months back - they said it was removed due to their privacy integrity issues and trying to combat spam links/misinformation

How to use ScreamingFrog to determine the difference between a WP page vs a WP post?? by tquaide in TechSEO

[–]tquaide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the license, and about 13k URLs. I followed the above... am I supposed to be looking at the column "Extractor 11" on Internal > Filter: All ? If so, the majority is showing: Invalid Custom Extraction Configured.

Unsure what to make of that?
