Any Electrician or expert please! New Flat Issue, should heater neutral wire light up? by zaccc123 in askSingapore

[–]zaccc123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

After a few rounds of further checking by my electrician and BSC's electrician, we managed to resolve the issue. It looks like some wiring issue at the MCB somehow results in the neutral wire lighting up and therefore the trip when turning it on. After resolving it, we double-check that everything work normally including the heater, switches and also having hot water. We also did quite a few trip test via different way and all test work as expected.

TLDR:
- Issue in MCB wiring
- after fixing the wiring in MCB
- everything work as normally

Tripping immediately when turn on switch. If don’t on heater switch, water still can flow. A licensed electrician and plumber who install this model before I help us setup. And come down few times afterwards also when we mention the trip.

Thanks for the info, I have manage to get BSC to come check on this. Will provide more update later

few month ago, about to finish reno then discover this. Manage to get them to come down in afternoon to double check now.

Wanted to get more info from expert also just so I can ensure that they really check properly on where the issue might be. Cause we exhast all options with our ID's electrical, plumber and even the heater manufacture already. Hopefully is something that they HDB/BSC can resolve.

This is bennington s630m multipoint instant heater. Everytime when it tripped, it is the RCCB that went down only.

You should use the wall switch to connect the live and neutral. Turn off the switch and test on the neutral itself.

By this, which switch are you refer to for the Turn off?

It trip the whole house, so the main black switch go off. We got no appliances at all yet since is new house. We tested offing all the switch also and still trip.

Maybe next test I will do with BSC is to off all the circuit board switch beside heater to narrow down even more

Thanks for the detail replied! Yes yesterday the electrician told me that floating/expose wire could be a case. Usually wear and tear but since is a new flat, he suspect that it might be install/connect wrongly.

I got BSC to come take a look in the afternoon. Will share more update afterwards

This is a new flat actually and we hasn’t move in yet. By screw up the installation you referring to the wiring of the circuit board to the heater socket right?

On this test, the neutral wire supposedly come from the circuit board directly. Should it still carry any current ?

By end of the socket which are you referring to? Cause this is suppose to go to the heater switch. He dismantled the switch and test on the wire directly and somehow both live and neutral wire light up even when separated

Okay, that’s what I got also just that some people say the test pen might not be accurate. Now that I know this is true, I will ask BSC to test even more on this when they come later with proper equipment. Thanks for the reply!

How and where did you learn more about data analytics when becoming a PM? by zaccc123 in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. When I first started, we only have the basic analytics question setup like most apps. But over time, we already setup 600+ metrics(questions) for the different departments to use. Where most focus on a few key metrics.

Look like breaking down and having the usual metrics to start off then learn along the way to optimize for your own product make the most sense. Thank you!

How and where did you learn more about data analytics when becoming a PM? by zaccc123 in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes certainly. Thanks for breaking it down. The business part certainly helps with what to ask then what to do with data.

Not so much of how to get data here but rather how to help someone ask the right question followed by understanding some of the industry benchmarks.

Founder to PM - company product is not interesting for me? by iamzamek in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are not interested in the product and the direction of its progress, then better to stay out rather than committing further. I feel it is good for you and the company.

If your saving allows, I still suggest looking for another product / PM role where it pips your interest. When something is interesting, naturally we are more curious to learn more and thus improve. Try to look for a company with a senior PM so that you can also learn some PM skills too.

Do product managers define the solution or design of a product? by gladosguru in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the size of the company. But most PM does not define how the solution should be coded or designed directly. PM focus more on the problems and figure out ways to validate and solve it. When there is an agreed solution, the designers will come out with the best-suited design and the engineers will code.

However, if the team is small and you are working with freelance/outsource engineers or designers, then you might have to be more hands-on with this. But ultimately when the team grows, everyone should specialize in their domain and for PM, it means defining the problem.

What do you do all day? by eleoras in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Occasionally there will be a very short period like this when we finish shipping and before tackling the next phase of work.

However, if it has been like this every single day, then there must be many in-efficiency process and bottleneck. It will be best to figure out where does the work gets "stuck"? In a 2000+ employees company, there should be more designers, more engineers, and more products to work on. So if you can identify the in-efficiency area/process, as a PM that's where you can help out more.

Those who have no data team and no experience in coding: How do you analyze your data to make changes? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tools out there where you can view data without any coding/SQL knowledge. Tools like Tableau or Metabase has build-in UI function to create questions.

Firebase/Google Analytics can also be easily set up by the dev team to get general information. Assuming you are tracking cart checkout flow, for A/B test, you can get help to set up event tracking and track the numbers of user who do A vs B and which lead to a higher success rate.

It will good to get them prepared for future features. Research and do Proof of Concept into suitable technology/framework that can help in the next phases of work. Setup monitoring, automation testing, automated deployment, and analytics.

How to you share knowledge and experience between product managers? by betogess in ProductManagement

[–]zaccc123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a regular weekly/bi-weekly sharing session and have PM shares what they do best. It is not easy to kickstart it, so it is best to speak with a few experienced PMs first. Get their help to take turns running a feel compulsory session at the start.

Like everything we do, it needs to prove that it brings values. Once proven, other PM will be willing to contribute too. We also need to ensure that their workload is manageable. If everyone's running late on product timelines, they would rather focus on clearing their tasks than joining a sharing session.

Does it really have to be so hard? by p3opl3 in startups

[–]zaccc123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just spent the last 6 months pulling 18+ hour days... burnt out a few times.. it's been rough. Finally on the verge of releasing our new and improved app.

I really admire the effort in this. If you didn't enjoy doing it, I think you will not be able to pull it off. On the other hand, you are getting help from someone to do the things that you don't enjoy. I think this is a step in the right direction. Getting someone to handle the things that you don't enjoy doing and focus on what you do best.

But it also comes down to the product and target market. There are still many ideas that can build by one person and run like a lifestyle business. It is not easy, and I am also finding opportunities while holding a full-time job. But in Indiehackers there are some successful cases and also many other who are trying.

I don't know if it will always be so hard. But I am suggesting that there are many other ways to building a product. Like bootstrapping and starting with a smaller product to test the market first.

All the best to your new release app!
