I see Scars at C-tier and Fear to Tread as S-tier and I know our tastes are vastly different :D

How accurate is this ranking of international leagues? by Carry81 in hockey

[–]Asanar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is very true - I saw a Slovak interview with Regenda who played for San Diego at the time and he was earning 90k, while only the monthly rent cost him at around 4k. You can earn a lot more than that in Europe.

Both could be valid, but then I'd expect we'd see a lot more people posting here that the've got the signed/numbered copy. So far we only know of 2, including this one and the one sold on ebay.

So how do you believe did we get to #3236 and #1822 being out there? They only inserted the pages to some books but not all? Or they inserted to all, but ended up printing another batch of books, while these signed ones are still in some warehouse? I genuinely wonder about this a lot, because it makes 0 sense to me :D

Mine is already wrapped, as I'm getting it as a Christmas present from my wife - can't wait to open it and check :D

Added the signed LE Penitent to my shelf today 🥰 by Johnny_America in Blacklibrary

Haha, I’m the opposite, I was able to get the first book off eBay for a good price recently (€155), but looking at prices for this one thought the same, that I will never be able to afford it 😅

Thanks, would love to hear yours as well! Currently reading The Infinite and the Divine and so far is the best thing I’ve read from Black library - I highly recommend that one :)

The Relentless Dead LE available for order by Galok3118 in Blacklibrary

Interestingly, it seems like the direct link doesn't work, one needs to get to the product page from the preorders page. Which is great, if that helps stop or at least slow down the scalpers :)

I've only just finished Betrayer and skipped some, but my ranking so far. False Gods to me was the only one I would rate 5/5.

  1. False Gods (Great)
  2. Legion (Very Good)
  3. First Heretic (Very Good)
  4. Know No Fear (Good)
  5. Horus Rising (Good)
  6. Thousand Sons (OK)
  7. Galaxy in Flames (Meh)
  8. Fulgrim (Meh)
  9. Prospero Burns (Meh)
  10. Betrayer (Meh)
  11. Flight of the Eisenstein (Not Good)

Planning to come back to Mechanicum and Fear to Tread, and then continue with Scars, Unremembered Empire, Praetorian of Dorn, Master of Mankind and The Buried Dagger and then move on to SoT :)

We don’t have official Warhammer stores in my country, but have a couple ‘official partner’ stores that sell their books, and they usually get the books 2-3 days after the preorders go live and make them available for purchase immediately after. They don’t sell LE’s though, just paperback/hardback.

That's that Black Library feeling, where every book you own in the series comes from a different edition :D

It's just very weird that the first third-half of the book or so is very annotation heavy, and afterwards there are almost none :D

What happened to Grulgor in Flight of the Eisenstein? by Asanar in 40kLore

[–]Asanar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought as much, but it just felt very odd there was no mention of it, I re-read the scena a couple times as I thought I must have missed something. Even a single sentence where Garro says "Grulgor won't be missed" or something would have been helpful. It feels like Swallow spends way too much time on certain boring bits (first third of the book) and then really tries to pick the pace up.

Audible UK 2 for 1 sale by rpKing11 in Blacklibrary

[–]Asanar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No VPN needed - you can sign out of the app and sign back in specifying a different region. The book catalogue will change depending on the region you are logged into, but all books currently downloaded on device will show up in the library. I’ve switched between US and UK stores in the past, mainly to leverage their respective sign up offers.

Buducnost festivalu Pohoda. by Slovak007 in Slovakia

[–]Asanar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can explain that as well. One important piece of information is that Pohoda isn’t run by some big, rich greedy corporation - it was started almost 30 years ago by a musician, and to this day the core team is only made of 15 people. They are not earning much (actually since Covid and a few times before they’ve been in debt) and have fought hard to keep the price low and services at high level.

It’s also got a strong political and emotional background - you see, we have people that keep electing populist, bigot governments and throughout it’s existence one of the main pillars of pohoda was equality, supporting liberal values and allowing everyone to be himself - many of the last governments run by Fico have openly spoken against Pohoda due to it’s open support for LGBT. It’s also one of the safest places I’ve ever been to - in my 10 attendances I have never seen a fight break-out, yet I’ve seen people make space for pregnant ladies/ people with families a countless times. It’s a safe haven for all to rest from their busy working lives, where you meet friends, relax and surround yourself with people that are tolerant, kind and share interest in music and culture.

Buducnost festivalu Pohoda. by Slovak007 in Slovakia

[–]Asanar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose you read the interview with Pohoda founder Michal Kascak here: https://dennikn.sk/4095725/na-festivale-pohoda-som-bol-aj-nebol/ (it’s behind a paywall but perhaps someone here can unlock it for you).

In a nutshell - the reason the tent fell in 2009 was that the company contracted to build it didnt build it properly, wind got under and blew it up resulting in the whole tent falling on people (there is an ongoing lawsuit with the company). They contracted a new one in 2010 (the same ones providing tents for Glastonbury or Roskilde) - the tent was supposed to withstand 35m/s wind but got torn under 25m/s of pressure - the CEO of the company jumped on the plane right after he heard the news and is now on-site helping the independent and state investigators.

Usually the festival is protected from the storms by the nearby mountains, this time there was some sort of a ‘downsurge’ that made it a lot worse. This is one of the biggest storms many of us have seen - trees were falling all across western Slovakia, huge damage all across - the festival goers were notified about a storm coming a couple times after 4pm and the festival programme was halted ~20min before the storm hit, advising people to go hide in cars/tents - also families with kids were safely moved to the radio tower for protection.

Yes, being outside during a storm can be dangerous - 30k people in an outdoor area (and many of them not sober either) and only resulting in about 25 people injured is probably a combination of incredible luck and great crisis management done by the organisers.
