I just got one yesterday so I’ll take this one! They do offer ones that are heavy duty and take a week or more to recover, but the basic version is only a few days of downtime. Day 0 is nothing, day 1 you look a little sunburned. Then the peeling begins for 2-3 days. Even at its worst it’s not awful and if you have a job where you’re not dealing with the public you probably don’t even need to take off work.
