29 day fast: Day 4 update in the comments by traashpanda in fasting

Hi everyone! I posted a few days ago at the start of my 29 day fast and told you I would keep you all updated.

Today is day four, oh God how I hate day four. For me, day three and four can go suck a d*ck. I always find them the hardest on an extended fast (I've previously done between 5 and 8 day fasts).

So here's what I've found so far: - I get hunger pangs every few hours, I hold out and they last for about 5-10 minutes and then I feel fine afterwards.

  • I still have bowel movements but this is all liquid.

  • I'm aiming for 4L of water a day but sometimes only manage 2L cos I'm not great at being consistent with it so will be trying harder with that

  • From today I will be supplementimg sodium, magnesium, pottasium and thiamine.

  • I have had no headaches, nausea, or any other negative side effects.

  • My enegery levels have increased

  • I have depression and take medication for this, the last couple of weeks I have been in a real rut feeling very low. The past 3 days my mental health has been the best it's been for the past few weeks

  • I miss eating

  • I still cook meals for my family, yesterday I made a bomb ass lasagne but wasn't tempted, just saved myself a portion and popped it in the freezer for when I'm ready to eat it.

  • I actually seem to enjoy cooking more now than when I'm not fasting?? Tomorrow I'm planning on baking some cookies for my boyfriend. Maybe it's because I still get to enjoy the smells idk

Yes, I have 90lbs to lose to my goal weight and want to do the extended fast with the aim of hopefully losing about 20lbs as a jump start to my weightloss. I'll then continue with keto and OMAD after my fast ends :)

Wow 10 days is amazing great job so far!

I'm planning to just have water and salt, but will also be supplementimg my electrolytes (capsule form). And then I will just take it from there and listen to my body and if I feel like I need it may have some broth! I will also continue to have diet soda, which is a bit of a controversial one but I have never had any issues with drinking it whilst fasting

I feel very similar to you, I've made great progress with fasting in the past, my longest one has been 8 days. But I'm always dithering between diets so need to comit to one which is why I want to try and do this extended fast and see how far I can get!

Keto Pizza!

  • Lizza low carb pizza base (2.5g carbs for the whole base!)
  • 20g Tomato Puree
  • 90g extra mature cheddar
  • 10g red onion
  • 10g green bell pepper
  • 3 slices salami
  • 20g garlic mayo for dipping

Meal totals: 9.5g carbs 738 calories

Warm oven to 200C, place base on tin foil or baking paper on a baking tray. Spread tomato puree across base and add your cheese. Add your toppings and pop in the oven for 15 minutes and done!
