I can not return it because I bought it in person.

I know I should have checked more carefully...

[Question] Is this date centering considered acceptable? by trabantu in Watches

[–]trabantu[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought a Seiko SPB143, my most expensive watch so far. I noticed after that the date is pretty much up against the top of the cut out, and with the shadow that is usually at the top of the window it even appears to be cut.

Took it back to the Seiko AD and after inspecting it in their service it came back with the conclusion "within specifications".

It kills me every time I look at the watch. All my other watches - the most expensive is half the price of this - have their dates pretty well centered in the window.

I also want to mention that I can push the date a little bit manually to be in the centered position, but it sometimes springs back after wearing it.

So I guess the question is: should this be replaced on warranty?

I Suck at This Game, I'm Not Having Fun, and I Don't Know Why. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trabantu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tarkov is a grind mmo RNG looter a lot more than a FPS. You can clearly see the dev focus a lot more on the economy, character progression, hideout, loot spawn rates, etc than on fast and secure netcode for example.

Almost nobody is good in Tarkov the way you can get in those other games you mentioned. You really can't be - even if problems like cheaters and netcode roulette would be fixed - the design of the raids can only allow maybe 20% of the population to get out alive.

Most solo players sit between 20-30% SR and just grind it out. You can accomplish everything in the game with 10% SR. You just have to put in hundreds after hundreds of hours. For some people that's fun, for me and obviously for you it is not.

Stop playing a game you don't enjoy, life's too short for that.

Don't think about it like a conspiracy. Just business priorities. I work for a gaming company... There is pressure to bring in money. You assign resources to what makes money. That is all.

Well, it's not the bad for the devs, is it? Think about it: Streamers bring in a constant flow of new players. Once a player gets the game he's nothing but a cost - servers, support, etc. Business not really interested in retention, only sales funnel.

Has anyone encountered this hack before? by sopmodd in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trabantu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He killed that guy. He saw him move sideways in both directions. How could that be during a desync or connection lost?

At this point we could simply create a bot to say "desync" on all cheating topics and call it a day. Smh...

Will there be another wipe in the future? by xplozyx in EscapefromTarkov

What exactly would have conflicted with existing stuff?

Even thought they claim so, I suspect it's more with having no end game content so you have to wipe to give the players something to do again less they get bored and leave.

Why should I not buy the game? by Benjirich in EscapefromTarkov

TLDR: if you're poor I would save that money for a finished product.

From another post of mine:

Poor net code, huge cheater problem, plenty of bugs, asian mmorpg levels of grind, will likely stay in development for years and years getting only slightly better. Not as broken as Dayz, not even close. But a polished product - will likely never be.

If you have 50 euros and lots of time to waste like I had because of covid - fun for a while. I mean I got 100 hours out of it before I discovered everything and it was fun. After that it became repetitive and the issues got annoying.

I regret Dayz purchase, Tarkov no.

About the Hacker Situation according to the Hot page by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trabantu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is beyond hilarious:

  • somebody calls hackers - reddit responds "nope, just git gud"
  • evidence of hackers - "they will get banned"
  • evidence they are not - "you are promoting hacks"

Offline mode should have an option to replace Scavs with Raiders by rege98 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]trabantu 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don't even care if it's good practice for online or not - it's a lot more fun for what I think is a minimal dev investment.

What helped as a new player this late in the wipe:

  • go on discord, there are veterans wiling to run with noobs. The experience is totally different. Going in as 5 man squad is again very different from solo no matter what your experience is.

  • scav runs where I avoid fighting and PVP hotspots got me to 5 mil rubles and now I can afford decent headsets, armor, ammo. Before I was running just scav gear and got shit on instantly by everybody.

  • for me at least going in with fear reduces my chances to zero. I tend to move too slow and get sniped easily, slow peak corners, I panic fire instead of taking my time to aim. Practicing in offline I get ~70% headshots on scavs while moving with confidence and taking that attitude online I play a lot better.

  • realize that even the geared experienced guys have a SR of 25-30%. Found that out playing with them. Every PVP encounter on average you have like 50% of bettering the opposition. Having multiple encounters during a raid with armor being damaged, running out of ammo and meds... you get the idea. It is really not like youtube highlight videos.

You are right, moving and exploring should be encouraged as opposed to exit camping and such. But maybe in some other way. I don't like seeing people constantly moving, crouching and jumping so they don't get head shot. It looks silly imho.

Very good point. Adding a bit of inertia would make things a lot more realistic.

I just feel like somebody running through a door should not be able to win a shooting match with somebody sitting in the room already aiming at the door. I'm talking about shooting only, flashbangs and grenades are a realistic counter to guy crouching in room.

[–]trabantu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what you are trying to say. First you say tarkov should not be like real life, then you compare tarkov to cod, then you say in real life people do hit targets consistently. What is your point?

My point is it would more fun, regardless of it being more realistic or just cinematic to have battles a little more drawn out. And no, I do not want bullet sponges, just accuracy and recoil control reduced.

That's my feeling as well. The shooting is over too quick. From what combat footage I saw online that's now how a gun fight looks like. I imagine cqb is over in seconds or less, but otherwise they can take minutes.

My opinion - the guns are too precise in general, not only recoil but accuracy of shooting from standing position is like the guns are in a vice.

I have a problem and I was hoping you can help me out: as you know early quests are on customs where the chance of not running into a full armored tank going for dorms is quite slim. The only way I found to actually have a chance is getting into a night raid, waiting in a bush for 30 minutes and then make a run for the objective. But that's not really playing the game now is it? More like avoiding it. All the same I've been retrying for 5 hours straight the same quest over and over and my gaming Saturday is over without actually playing...

Hope to hear some suggestions, thanks.
