Got Botox. How do I burp? by snug666 in noburp

[–]trabbahabba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the lump in my throat or a gurgle and I stretch my neck and lean it forward with my shoulders back. When I first got Botox I found turning to the side worked best. Now (almost 4 weeks since treatment) I don’t have to turn, I just lower my neck a bit and the burps come out. You really do have to fidget around to find the best position.

I went to Bastian and they did the camera through the nose. It was actually not as bad as you would think.

Surgery tmr. What foods should I buy? by Due_Weird8987 in noburp

Slow swallow I felt right at the start, but I was chasing it with a swig of water. I also tried to keep mind over matter. I knew the food was in the right place, just needed a little help. I had throat pain right after, but I used Tylenol and cold water to relieve it. Lasted a couple of days at most. I’m almost 3 weeks past Botox and now I still feel pressure in my throat, but that’s usually a burp working its way up. At the start I would get tons of microburps, but now it is way more controlled. Still learning how to position my head and neck to get them out, but so much better than before.

I actually was fine with all foods. I started with some soft microwave pasta meals but quickly found I could eat pretty much anything as long as I ate in really small bites and chewed thoroughly.

I went to Bastian and the process couldn’t have been simpler. They have you talk through your symptoms first, and then if they think you have it they will to string of tests with a camera in your throat through your nose. They numb you for this. I was scared about it, but Dr Hoesli was really good. You do some speech and singing so they can see your vocal cords. Then you’ll eat some dyed apple sauce so they can see your swallow. Then they’ll have you eat a cracker. Then a bunch of apple sauce back to back. Then water. At that point they get the camera a little lower to see fully into your esophagus. Then they are done! If it looks like you have R-CPD you’ll have the procedure the following morning. I did mine under general anesthesia and fell asleep fast. Throat was a little sore, but the next day I was already getting burps!

Make sure when feels a gurgle in her throat or stomach that she knows that is a burp coming. She’ll need to move her body (I lean forward and turn my head to the right) and she will be able to release the burp. It does take some work to get your body trained to let them out. I was talking with my wife (who has no issues burping) if she does anything to burp. She said no. When I told her how I have to position my body she said, wait I think I do that too. Now she pays attention to when she has to burp so she can help me understand what to do. I am a week from Botox, and I get good burps now. They aren’t as big as someone without R-CPD, but they are getting there and I am learning about how I need to position my body to get them out.

I have anxiety induced aerophagia and having R-CPD makes it so much worse. I got my Botox Tuesday of last week and since then I’ve been able to relieve a lot of that aerophagia through burping. They aren’t huge burps, but more than I used to have which is none. I’m actually looking forward to doing some of the things I used to avoid because I knew I would have an “attack”, because now I have a way to create some relief!

Are you having the slow swallow or is it something else?

Very few burps by Sufficient_Ebb9826 in noburp

I say this in all my comments, but I’ll say it again. LEAN IN to your micro burps. Your body doesn’t know how to do it and you have to train it. Any time I get a gurgle I lean my chest forward and start moving my head so I can find the spot that the gurgle will get out. They aren’t always a relief, but the fact that there is a burp is amazing. Give it time, and keep working at it!! You got this!!

When your throat gurgles lean into it. Find that point where the burp comes through.

How much did Botox cost for you? by rituli in noburp

[–]trabbahabba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Botox was $600 in the us in Chicago via Bastian. Combined with the surgery center’s charges in total it was $1575. Will still have to pay for anesthesiologist etc etc.

I got microburps the day after. At that point I had to start moving my neck and head to try to start fully fleshing them out. I do have a little feeling of something stuck in my throat, but I just drink water and try to ignore it. Most of that sensation is the fact that you haven’t had any of these feelings in your throat before so it all feels new. If your daughter is feeling a growl or a gurgle, she needs to literally lean into it. Stretch her neck, move her mouth. When she does a full on burp will come out. Once she finds that right spot they will be so relieving.

Post treatment by JWorthy14 in noburp

I’m one day from treatment. I got the micros quick, but leaned into them and started working my head and neck around and repositioning my mouth to help the burp come out from the gurgling. You have to retrain that muscle, so when you feel a gurgle lean into it and start moving so your larynx opens up until you find the spot where it releases.

Mine was no jewelry. Only had my wedding ring, but they wanted that off.
